Director, Systems Engineering

Job Description:

The Fidelity Enterprise Infrastructure (EI) Production Support team is seeking a director to help scale our growing public cloud presence. Fidelity’s Systems Engineers work with our cloud platform teams to deliver reliable runtimes for Fidelity’s business critical workloads. This team is responsible for cross-cutting cloud management capabilities including capacity analysis and are the experts on the state of Fidelity’s cloud platforms at any moment. The team comes from diverse technical backgrounds, and the responsibilities provide opportunity for a variety of challenges that require engineers to work on software and systems challenges.

The Director of Systems Engineering will support Engineering and Systems Operational support for Business Unit aligned functions including Application Support, Cloud Enablement, Mid-tier & Web Operations, & Platform Engineering. The Expertise You Have and The Skills You Bring

• 10+ years of experience in Engineering and Operational Support leadership in the financial services industry

• Competency in leveraging large organizational structure and relationships in delivering on complex programs

• Experience in Web/cloud application engineering and design

• Capable of partnering with and influencing individuals at all organizational levels

• Experience in building and managing Lean / Agile based technology delivery teams (DevOps)

• Champion of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles

• Experience in constructing Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery technologies and processes.

• Significant experience in managing large, technical program portfolios

• Must bring flawless execution and results in a role of organizational navigator and collaborator

• Expertise in developing and reviewing business cases as it relates to new or significantly enhanced initiatives impacting the service offering

• Experience in Internal/External Cloud environments

• A Thought leader who can bring emerging technology and processes together drive efficiency and competitive advantage

• Deep knowledge on Cloud Support, capabilities on AWS such as Observability, Automation, Resiliency, Scalability and Cluster Capacity analysis

• Ability to partner with business and other technical leadership to define program goals and roadmap, deliver a portfolio of projects aligned with strategic goals, and ensure program budget is strategically invested and managed with due diligence

• Establish technology frameworks that can be leveraged to drive a common, core set of services and optimize technology delivery

• The ability to navigate complex relationships, forge partnerships, and develop solutions which provide ‘win-win’ outcomes

• Responsible for maintaining the quality and stability of the business line technology platforms.

• The ability to lead large scale programs, balancing execution, budgets, risk, compliance, and client expectations.

• Demonstrate a proven track record of developing talent and cultivating winning teams.

Fidelity’s working model blends the best of working offsite with maximizing time together in person to meet associate and business needs. Currently, most hybrid roles require associates to work onsite all business days of one assigned week per four-week period (beginning in September 2024, the requirement will be two full assigned weeks).
