Job Description Summary

Drive technology strategy and architecture across a range of new and existing capabilities in a business unit. Provide leadership to product teams through architecture designs, adoption of emerging standards, and collaboration with key partners. Operate at a product area level providing technical leadership and architecture, which support programs and projects for business partners. Requires collaboration and interaction opportunities with architects across the firm in forums as well as external to Fidelity (e.g. industry consortia and solution/vendor interactions). Lead the work establishing multi-year blueprints for the business capability and roadmaps for the IT Product Lines and IT Products.

Job Description

As Director, Solution Architecture, you will be driving the overall technical and solutions architecture within Institutional Wealth Management Services (IWMS). Specifically, you will help implement IWMS’s cloud-based modernization strategy that includes product/application architecture and design, POCs/prototypes, and automation. You will work closely with business partners and technology teams to understand business objectives and help define the appropriate architecture direction for them, driving IWMS’s digital modernization efforts.

You will play a very hands-on role driving the overall technical and solutions architecture within IWMS.  You will be responsible for all aspects of the application architecture and security.  You will work closely influencing Business Sponsors, Scrum master’s and Peer Architects while driving IWMS’s digital modernization efforts.

The role will initially focus on IWMS Transmission modernization effort where you will act as a global architect at product area level. The role has potential to grow into multi-product area architect or domain architect role.

IWMS Transmission modernization is a data heavy initiative where we are in the middle of modernizing data delivery to Fidelity Institutional clients/vendors/fintechs. It is large & complex environment where we are modernizing services, engines which are in place from decades. We are using latest technology stack like AWS, snowflake, spark etc

• Formulating and driving the tactical and strategic direction for Institutional Wealth Management Services architecture for the most critical and large complex systems across all facets and disciplines.
• Acting as an expert for our development partners providing documentation, reference code and roadmaps for capability modernization, automation, pipelines and strategy that includes bridging/moving data in a co-exist mode. 
• Making authoritative decisions over technical issues, project policies, standards, and strategies.
• Anticipating the applicability of major industry trends in the Fidelity environment and implementing roadmaps.
• Growing our agile development culture through use of excellent engineering skills and a deep knowledge of industry standard methodologies.
• Collaborating and coordinating across multiple agile team structures.

• Ability to provide technical leadership and hands on day-to-day solutions to agile teams, preparing the design artifacts and implementation of solutions.
• Demonstrate strategic thinking and ability to analyze business direction and problems, understand long term vision and risk in developing strategic technical solutions.
• Demonstrated technology and personal leadership experience in architecting, designing, and building highly scalable operational systems.
• Experience with API Management, domain modeling, policy modeling.
• Strong software development skills and experience using Java and web application technologies in a microservices/ service-oriented architecture.
• Ability to evaluate, prototypes, direct proof of concepts and recommend emerging technologies and platforms.
• Experience in Server-Side technologies like Java, Node.js, JSON, Spring and integration frameworks, Open-Source Frameworks - Spring MVC, Spring Core, Spring REST
• Experience in Client-Side technologies like HTML 5, JavaScript, CSS3, Angular.
• Experience in security frameworks/technologies: OAuth, Open ID Connect and knowledge of best practices.
• Ability to translate business needs into technology solutions.
• Strong presentation skills, written and verbal communication including the ability to influence, to negotiate resolution of issues and conflicts.
• Ability to Influence and possess strong presentation skills, written and verbal communication.
• Relevant understanding of DevOps technologies such as Jenkins, uDeploy, Concourse, and Datadog
• Experience with relevant AWS technologies practices, building applications using services such as AWS Batch, EC2, EKS, S3, IAM, KMS, Lambda and CloudFormation and OpsWorks, and a well-grounded knowledge of engineering and continuous delivery practices.
• Lead, mentor and provide design and architecture for delivery teams. Collaborate with product and engineering leads and senior management on product and delivery requirements, roadmaps and vision, working closely with delivery teams from project inception to implementation. 
• Expertise in working with snowflake data movement, data enrichment & data security is must

The Expertise We’re Looking For

• 15+ years of industry experience, with a demonstrated ability as Solution architect with prior experience as tech/solution designer in operationally critical systems.  
• Demonstrated expertise in working with large complex data environments including data movements, data enrichment, data management, data security. Expertise in working with AWS & Snowflake is must.
• Expert knowledge and experience in Java, microservices, event driven architecture, frameworks, various open-source stacks, and relational databases.  
• Strong knowledge of application design and distributed technologies, continuous integration, static code analysis, test-driven development, performance analysis and tuning.
• Demonstrated technology and personal leadership experience in architecting, designing, and building highly scalable transactions and operational applications/products with different type of workloads.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technology related field (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science, etc.) required
