Full Stack Engineer, Early Career

Department: Engineering

Location: Toronto

Employment Type: FullTime

Launch your engineering career by building and shipping products used by real customers.

About Feathery

Feathery automates data intake workflows for insurance and wealth management firms. Industry leaders rely on Feathery to power mission-critical workflows like underwriting, client onboarding, and automated account openings.

With rapid revenue growth and expanding enterprise demand, we’re scaling our engineering team to match the ambition of our product and go-to-market engine.

Why We’re Hiring

As Feathery grows, both the complexity of our backend systems and the sophistication of our frontend product experience are increasing.

We’re hiring a Full Stack Engineer to help build and scale core product capabilities end-to-end. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who enjoys owning features across the stack — from designing APIs and backend systems to crafting intuitive, high-performance user interfaces.

You’ll work closely with product, design, and engineering to ship impactful features and shape the overall architecture of the platform.

About the Role

This role blends:

  • Full stack product development (frontend + backend)

  • System design and API development

  • UI/UX implementation and performance optimization

  • Cross-functional collaboration with product and design

You’ll zoom out to understand system architecture and zoom in to deliver polished, end-to-end product experiences.

What You’ll Do

Full Stack Product Development

  • Design and build end-to-end features across frontend and backend systems

  • Develop APIs and services that power core product functionality

  • Build intuitive, responsive, and high-performance user interfaces

  • Own features from concept through production

Backend Systems & Infrastructure

  • Build and scale backend services for workflow automation and data processing

  • Develop asynchronous pipelines and distributed systems for handling large volumes of data

  • Work with AWS services and queueing systems (e.g., SQS) to support scalable infrastructure

  • Ensure reliability, performance, and observability across systems

Frontend Experience & Performance

  • Implement user interfaces using modern frameworks (e.g., React)

  • Optimize frontend performance, responsiveness, and usability

  • Collaborate with design to deliver polished, accessible user experiences

  • Contribute to frontend architecture and component systems

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with product and design to define and build new features

  • Work with other engineers to integrate APIs and data models effectively

  • Contribute to product planning, technical scoping, and architecture decisions

  • Help translate customer needs into scalable technical solutions

About You

  • Background in computer science… with hands-on experience building applications (internships, co-ops, or projects included)

  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React)

  • Familiarity with backend frameworks such as Node.js, Django, or similar

  • Experience designing APIs and working with distributed systems or asynchronous processing

  • Familiarity with AWS and cloud infrastructure

  • Strong understanding of performance, scalability, and reliability

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Bonus

  • Experience building workflow tools, internal platforms, or data-heavy applications

  • Familiarity with document processing, OCR, or AI/ML integrations

  • Experience with drag-and-drop interfaces or complex frontend state management

  • Experience optimizing systems for high throughput and low latency

  • Background or interest in financial services or other regulated industries

  • Experience at a high-growth B2B SaaS company

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation and equity

  • Health, dental, and vision coverage

  • Unlimited PTO

  • Downtown Toronto office location

  • Office snacks and lunches

  • A supportive, low-ego team that values ownership and growth

  • Company offsite to connect and recharge
