Manager, Engineering - Edge Delivery 

The Engineering Manager will lead a group of engineers specializing in fetching and caching HTTP data on Fastly's network. This role will help guide the team to deliver high quality and high performance systems and work with other engineering managers to lead shared efforts. You will contribute to projects ranging from improving performance of the system to adding new features for users of Fastly's CDN.

What You'll Do:

• Lead a team responsible for the systems that power Fastly's HTTP caching and delivery product offering
• Guide the team's engineering practices to ensure highly performant, secure and resilient deliverables
• Design a work pipeline to deliver incremental output that meaningfully addresses and improves production services
• Balance disparate cross-functional requirements to ensure that the right items are prioritized and delivered
• Communicate with engineering and business leadership, and work closely with other engineering teams along with technical operations teams

What We're Looking For: 

• You have a minimum of 8 years of engineering experience, with at least 2 of those in a direct management role or 3 years as a technical lead
• Experience in distributed and highly available environments
• An excellent understanding of software development practices and the proven ability to regularly deliver highly performant, secure and reliable software to production environments
• An understanding of the basics of TCP, HTTP, and Linux systems

We’ll be super impressed if you have experience in any of these: 

• Architecting or delivering CDN or similar infrastructure services to internal or external customers
• Prioritizing competing cross-functional work streams

Work Hours: This position will require you to be available during core business hours.

Fastly currently embraces a largely hybrid model for most roles which allows employees flexibility to split their time between the office and home. 

This position may require travel as required by your role or requested by your manager.

Salary: 

The estimated salary range for this position is $181,220 to $226,520. 

Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.

This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly’s equity and discretionary bonus programs.
