Job Description

As a valued colleague on our team, you will collaborate with team in designing, producing, testing, or implementing moderately complex software, technology, or processes, as well as create and maintain IT architecture, large scale data stores, and cloud-based systems.

The Single Family AWS Software Engineer (Open to Remote) role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:

  • Independently determine the needs of the customer and create solution frameworks.
  • Design and develop moderately complex software solutions to meet needs.
  • Use a process-driven approach in designing and developing solutions.
  • Implement new software technology and coordinate end-to-end tasks across the team.
  • May maintain or oversee the maintenance of existing software.

Minimum Required Experiences

  • 2 years

Skills

  • Programming including coding, debugging, and using relevant programming languages
  • Influencing including negotiating, persuading others, facilitating meetings, and resolving conflict
  • Expertise in developing websites for hosting via intranet or Internet, which may also include web design, web content development, scripting, and/or network security configuration
  • Skilled in cloud technologies and cloud computing
  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining consistency of a product's performance, functional, and physical attributes with its requirements, design, and operational information
  • Determining causes of operating errors and taking corrective action
  • Business Insight including advising, designing business models, interpreting customer and market insights, forecasting, benchmarking, etc.
  • Communication including communicating in writing or verbally, copywriting, planning and distributing communication, etc.
  • Skilled in documentation and database reporting for the purposes of analysis, data discovery, and decision-making with the use of relevant software such as Crystal Reports, Excel, or SSRS

  • Skilled in HTML
  • Skilled in using UNIX

  • Skilled in SQL
  • Experience in JavaScript
  • Experience using APIs for developing or programming software
  • Experience in Java

Desired Experiences

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent
  • 5-10 years of experience

Skills

  • Experience in R/Python/SAS/SQL to convert and modernize legacy SAS applications
  • Experience in working on large scale Oracle and Postgres databases, writing DDL's, SQL statements to manipulate and report on data
  • Skilled in use of AWS technologies for building, deploying applications and operating applications.
  • Proficiency with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (Jenkins, Go) Experience with build tools (Gradle, Maven, Nexus, etc.)
  • Ability to leverage Fannie Mae DevOps tool stack to build, inspect, deploy, test and promote new or updated features.
  • Experience working in Agile methodology and lead the design and provide solutions for complex business problems.
