Under the general direction of the Director of Supply Chain, this position is responsible for the strategic product development of both new and existing hard goods product families that align with customer needs. Through detailed business planning, this position acts as the principal project lead for new product ideas that align with both short-term and long-term company goals and objectives. The focus will include heavy collaboration with Sales & Marketing, Supply Chain, Operations, and external parties to develop a successful roadmap. This position will combine technical knowledge with leadership and strategic skills to coordinate all aspects of product development, from initial concept to final launch, including profitable economics, market-desired features & benefits and establishing a go-to-market timeline. This role functions with a hands-on mentality and can effectively manage multiple projects at the same time. Understanding product design and quality specifications, in addition to developing and hitting key project deadlines, is necessary to be successful in this position.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Execute strategic product development direction through collaboration with internal stakeholders such as executive management, sales & marketing, industrial engineers, supply chain personnel, and manufacturing leadership.
- Leads new product development projects and redesign from conception to launch, overseeing all product lifecycle stages.
- Builds and communicates product development timelines that coincide with business seasonality and customer buying timelines, ensuring customer-centric product development.
- Uses customer insights, market analysis, and competitor analysis to make recommendations on potential new product development opportunities.
- Leverages analytical skills to evaluate information and solve complex problems, delivering cost-effective economics that achieve a market-competitive retail price point while assessing the profitability of new products through market research and competitive analysis.
- Establishes guidelines and templates for new art requirements, based on manufacturing and decorating capabilities, alongside the Art Department.
- Sources, evaluates, and selects suppliers and vendors, establishing strong strategic partnerships to support product development.
- Ensures that product compliance is thorough and approved across all areas prior to moving forward with a product release.
- Collaborates with sales & marketing to ensure product success and market growth, learning and adapting where needed to continue driving revenue.
- Learns and understands the internal requirements of information to make educated decisions regarding product development – for example, feature & benefits, margin structure, inventory investment, ROI, lead time.
- Adheres to all Department and Company Standards, Operating Procedures and Safety Requirements.
- Treats others with respect and conducts themselves in a positive and inclusive manner daily.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in Product Development or Supply Chain
- Or any combination of experience, education or training.
- Demonstrated successful track record in driving product innovation and launching new products.
- Strong leadership, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of product development processes and industry trends, ability to define and understand technical details and information.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a challenging fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team.
- Mature, professional, and high level of discretion is required.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Office environment
The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $85,000 which represents base pay only and does not include short-term or long-term incentive compensation. When determining base pay, as part of final compensation package, we consider several factors such as location, experience, qualifications, and training.
