Launched in 2021, Fanatics Betting and Gaming is the online and retail sports betting subsidiary of Fanatics, a global digital sports platform. The Fanatics Sportsbook is available to 95% of the addressable online sports bettor market in the U.S. Fanatics Casino is currently available online in Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Enterprise Loyalty team. In this role, you will help design, build, and operate scalable, high-quality backend systems that power customer-facing products and internal platforms. You are an experienced technologist who enjoys shipping reliable software, collaborating cross-functionally, and delivering meaningful business impact.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, test, document, and deploy high-quality backend services into production
- Build scalable, performant APIs and services that support customer-facing applications
- Develop a deep understanding of our industry, products, feature set, and roadmap
- Lead the technical delivery of new features from functional requirements through implementation
- Contribute to architectural discussions and help define engineering standards, best practices, and guidelines
- Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and other engineering teams to make technology decisions that improve our products
- Participate in on-call rotations to troubleshoot and resolve production issues
- Escalate risks and blockers early and proactively propose solutions
- Participate in code reviews to ensure quality, consistency, and knowledge sharing
- Improve system reliability, observability, testability, and operational excellence metrics
- Contribute to team planning, estimation, and design discussions
- Mentor junior engineers and help onboard new team members
- Be open to occasional travel to Fanatics offices, conferences, and team events
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of experience building and operating highly scalable backend services
- Strong experience with Go (Golang) as a primary development language
- Experience designing APIs and distributed systems
- Familiarity with Agile/SCRUM software development practices
- Strong collaboration skills and a team-first mindset
- Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with evolving priorities
