Windows Systems Engineer – VMWARE, vSphere, PowerShell & PowerCLI

The role of a Systems Engineer in the Virtualization Team is to research, deploy, monitor, and maintain vSphere environments and the VMs they host. Our vSphere environments exist in our data centers, our offices worldwide, and are also deployed to many remote locations in our global POPs and client locations. You will work closely with stakeholders and engineers within the company across multiple teams to design systems to meet project needs. When issues arise, you will troubleshoot and help resolve them. This position will require knowledge of VMWare technologies including vCenter, vSphere/ESXi, and experience administering virtual infrastructure for a mix of Windows and Unix guests.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement virtual and physical solutions based on stakeholder requirements
• Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot VMWare server performance and stability issues
• Create process and documentation to ensure efficiency and availability
• Plan and execute capacity expansions

Minimum Qualifications:

• 5+ years’ experience with VMWare vSphere administration

Critical Skills:

• Strong technical, analytical, and communication skills
• Ability to manage many projects simultaneously, prioritizing appropriately
• Experience with PowerShell and PowerCLI
• Be part of a periodic 24x7 on-call rotation

Additional / High Desired Skills:

• Hands on experience with creating advanced automation using PowerShell and PowerCLI
• Experience with AWS/Azure public cloud services and IAC tools such as Terraform.
• Experience with non-vSphere hypervisors (KVM, Xen, etc) and container platforms.
• Knowledge of TCP, DNS, LAN/WAN, load balancers, firewalls

Education:

• Bachelors’ in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
