Director Solutions Architecture

Cloud Technologies have and remain a core enabler for several of our enterprise strategies: rounding the corner on Digital Transformation, executing on M&A, driving Investment Programs, and enabling success with Generative AI. The Platform Infrastructure Engineering Team at FactSet is looking for a leader of the Solutions Architecture team, which is comprised of Cloud, System & Software architects.  As part of the Enterprise Architecture function, the Solutions Architecture team focuses on aligning project business requirements to technology solutions supported by our core platform teams.  They help maximize the benefit FactSet receives from cloud & modern technology solutions by partnering with strategic business units and engineering teams to promote modernization, level up architecture best practices and knowledge, increase collaboration across the organization, and help realize FactSet’s technology strategy. 

Responsibilities: 

• Supports the planning and implementation of enterprise Cloud Programs 

•   Make meaningful contributions to FactSets technology platforms and capabilities. 

• Fosters a culture of innovation and encourages colleagues to think differently in finding solutions. 

• Focuses on providing efficient business value, ensuring programs are delivered as efficiently as possible. 

• Work with other Platform Infrastructure Engineering teams to help drive the adoption of modern computing solutions, such as cloud services. 

• Increase modernization and digital transformation velocity by helping engineering teams adopt DevOps, Infrastructure as Code, and automated release processes. 

•   Work with FactSet security organization to ensure a strong security posture of services and data in the cloud. 

• Provide input and assistance on high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) of services running in the cloud. Develop processes and tooling to help engineering teams implement these HA & DR strategies for critical services deployed in the cloud. 

• Identify and implement cost optimization strategies for cloud services. 

• Anticipates and probes issues and contingencies with the early involvement of others, creating culture that translates strategies into specific goals, tactics, action plans and deliverables. Reports roadmap progress to Management and Stakeholders; including KPIs, Key Business Deliverables and Risk Assessments.  

• Promotes a client-centric culture within the team.   

Minimum Requirements:   

• 7 or more years of hands-on public cloud experience successfully making architecture contributions in a fast-paced, high-growth business with demonstrable experience leading cross-functional technology teams, planning, capital expense budgeting, and process improvement. 

Critical Skills:   

• 3+ years of AWS experience working in a highly distributed, fast-paced environment. 

• Technology Leadership experience 

• People management experience 

•   Proven track record of being an innovative and pragmatic technology expert. 

•    Understanding of Cloud Computing technologies. 

•   Strong Working knowledge of one or more of the following: Python, GoLang, Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible 

•   Experience with Docker, EC2/ASG, Serverless (Lambda), ECS/EKS 

•   Strong foundational knowledge of AWS Networking services: VPC, TGW, Direct Connect, ALB/NLB, PrivateLink 

•   Knowledge of Generative AI and AI/ML tools & techniques 

• Strong desire to learn new tech and solve challenging engineering problems.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead business and technology discussions at all levels. 

• Ability to review initiatives, understand detailed business processes and technology, and make timely, decisive decisions. 

• Track record of being a change agent, one who can drive new and commercial thinking across the organization and the behaviors supporting such while engaging in a collaborative, inclusive style 

•   Strategic, analytical, and creative thinking style with a realistic, pragmatic approach 

Education:   

• Bachelor’s degree in information/computer science, engineering, or related discipline with IT focus required.
