About the Role
We’re looking for a QA Automation Manager to lead quality automation across Félix’s products. You will expand and lead the QA Automation function, set the test automation vision and strategy across engineering teams, and make sure every release that moves our customers’ money is reliable, fast, and safe.
You’ll lead a growing team of QA Automation engineers through two QA Leads who report directly to you. We believe great QA leadership is hands-on: you’ll stay deep in the technical work by leading architecture discussions, guiding the team toward the best technical path, and getting your hands dirty when complex problems need you. You’ll partner closely with engineering, product, and platform leaders to make quality a shared responsibility and to keep release velocity high without compromising production health.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Growth
- Lead and develop the QA Leads, and through them a team of QA Automation engineers, with clear goals, regular 1:1s, and career development.
- Hire and onboard new QA Automation talent as the team scales.
- Set clear expectations and ownership for QA Automation coverage across product squads.
Quality Automation Strategy & Release Readiness
- Define and own the end-to-end quality automation strategy across products, from design reviews to production.
- Establish quality gates, acceptance criteria, and release-readiness standards with product and engineering.
- Make or inform go/no-go release decisions using clear test metrics and risk analysis.
- Drive improvements in release velocity while keeping production health strong.
Technical Direction & Infrastructure
- Own the roadmap for our automation frameworks (UI, API, and performance) and their CI/CD integration.
- Lead architecture discussions and give the final technical call on test automation design and tooling.
- Drive performance testing initiatives to ensure our systems scale reliably.
- Champion the use of AI to improve QA efficiency, coverage, and tooling.
- Ensure regression and smoke suites are reliable, fast, and scalable.
- Partner with engineers so they write testable code and own quality alongside QA.
Process, Metrics & Defect Management
- Define QA Automation processes and best practices, and champion a quality-first culture across the organization.
- Track and report quality metrics (coverage, defect trends, escaped bugs, test stability) to leadership.
- Oversee defect triage and root-cause analysis with stakeholders, closing the loop on fixes and prevention.
- Build and maintain monitoring for test health and stability.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in QA Automation, including 2+ years leading or managing QA Automation engineers.
- Strong hands-on automation background: you can go from high-level strategy to technical detail in the same conversation.
- Strong experience designing, building, and maintaining AI-powered tools and solutions for QA purposes.
- Hands-on experience leading performance testing projects.
- Python experience, including pytest.
- Experience building and maintaining test automation frameworks for UI, API, and performance (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright).
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
- Track record of defining test strategies, quality metrics, and release processes for complex products.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management; comfortable aligning engineering, product, and leadership.
- Fluent/Advanced English. Spanish is a strong plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- These are the applicable requirements, although equivalent competencies in any of the above will also be considered.
Nice to Have
- Experience testing chatbots, LLM-based products, or third-party provider API integrations.
- Experience with Docker.
- Experience testing event-driven architectures.
- Experience with load or security testing.
- Experience in fintech, payments, or other regulated environments.
- Experience at a high-growth startup, scaling a QA function.
