Role Overview
We are seeking a Mid-Level Database Engineer to design, optimize, and maintain databases that support our accounting and reporting systems. The role involves working closely with development, analytics, and operations teams to ensure high data accuracy, performance, and security.
You will play a key role in architecting data flow between systems, integrating multiple data sources, and implementing best practices for database design and governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable database architectures to support business and reporting applications.
- Collaborate with software and analytics teams to design data models that meet performance and reporting needs.
- Develop ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes for integrating data from multiple systems.
- Optimize database performance, queries, and storage utilization.
- Implement data backup, recovery, and security strategies in compliance with company policies.
- Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues proactively.
- Maintain documentation for schema designs, data dictionaries, and data flow diagrams.
- Participate in code reviews, capacity planning, and system upgrades.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Finance, Tech, Analytics) to improve data accuracy and process efficiency.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience: 4–7 years of hands-on experience in database design, development, and administration.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong expertise in SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
- Proficiency in database modeling tools (e.g., ERwin, dbt, Lucidchart).
- Experience with ETL tools and data integration frameworks.
- Strong understanding of indexes, partitions, stored procedures, and query optimization.
- Familiarity with cloud databases (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL, or Google Cloud SQL) is a plus.
- Exposure to Power BI, Tableau, or other reporting tools preferred.
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Good English communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting finance, accounting, or ERP systems.
- Knowledge of data governance and compliance best practices (especially in the U.S. accounting domain).
- Basic scripting knowledge in Python or Shell for automation.
