Network Engineer III

The Network Engineer develops, maintains, and supports data center and cloud network infrastructure. In this role, we provide network support including operation, release management and request fulfilment for network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers. Your role will operate and support global network and related security services and will resolve system and network issues and outages.

This will involve maintenance and administration of all production network equipment. This position will directly engage with the site reliability teams and with internal customers. You may be preparing network diagrams and maintaining equipment lists using automation where possible to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Our team is looking for someone who is able to communicate well with vendors and partners to build relationships as you work through technical scenarios. This role acts as a mentor to more junior engineers, applies new engineering principles to improve existing systems, and is responsible for leading complex, well-defined projects.  One of the major themes we're focusing on involves network automation and orchestration to increase speed and preserve consistency in our network connectivity solutions. This could involve automation of network circuit provisioning, switch baselines, routing protocol convergence improvements and network overlay technologies.

What you will do:

• Intermediate to Expert skills in routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, MPBGP, ISIS, MPLS)

• Understands physical and virtual network technologies and how they interoperate

• Intermediate knowledge of models used to show network state and for configuration (e.g., SNMP, NetFlow, IPFIX, Netconf, Restconf, gRPC)

• Is familiar with using the best model for given technologies to visualize network behavior and performance

• Proficient in configuring enterprise or service provider grade network hardware

• Experienced in configuring, operating, and automating cloud IaaS networks (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP). Preferred Azure.

• Has strength in software development languages

• Identifies strengths and weaknesses among languages for particular use cases

• Experience reviewing system configuration settings/policies

• Proficiency working with third party vendors and technologies

• Ability to review and improve processes and procedures

• Experience working in operational environments following ITIL, industry standards, frameworks, and reference architectures

• Excellent troubleshooting skills (technical and non-technical)

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Ability to multi-task and handle competing and conflicting priorities

• Good interpersonal skills in both verbal and written

• Ability to work overtime to include nights and weekends

Who you are:

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field; equivalent related professional experience also accepted

• 5+ years of experience in network engineering

• Relevant certification (e.g., Cisco CCNA, CCNP, AWS and Azure Cloud certifications)

• Software defined network experience

• Expert-level certifications a plus

• Network scripting background using languages such as Python and JavaScript
