The Analytics Products & Visualisation Engineering team at Expedia is responsible for providing clarity, and ease of understanding of insights. We work with multiple teams across Expedia. Understanding where our customers come from, their experiences, and partnering with product, finance, marketing, and design to name a few of the areas we worked on in the last year alone.  

In this role, you will be supporting our vision to “democratise data - to empower every employee to make data-informed decisions”. You will be working on a ReactJS stack to support multiple products across Expedia Group analytics. We build data visualisation applications that Product Managers, Analysts, decision-makers use to help us in the goal to make Expedia Group the world’s travel platform. 

As a key member of the team, the Manager Software Development Engineer will work in a small, agile team and play a pivotal role in supporting our key partners, ensuring they are able to turn data effectively and quickly into insights, driving business decisions and strategy.  

The ideal candidate will have fullstack experience with a strong emphasis on frontend development, and a passion for crafting intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces. 

What you will do:

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Software Developers, setting clear expectations and providing guidance and support 

• Develop products that support and improve the insight and analytical capabilities of the group 

• Develop our insights platform by creating and maintaining new features, APIs and integrating with other tools/systems 

• Collaborate with key teams to develop lasting solutions and improvements to drive efficiency and help coordinate stakeholder input and collaboration efforts when developing solutions to issues 

• Ensure code quality by establishing best practices, participating in peer code reviews, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the team 

• Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget 

Who you are:

• A proactive and motivated front-end/full stack web developer with an interest in data visualisation 

• 6-8 years of experience in JavaScript, ReactJS, LESS/SASS, Webpack, NodeJS, RESTful APIs, SQL and NoSQL technologies, Docker, Spinnaker 

• Experience with testing frameworks 

• Familiar with design tools e.g. Figma 

• Knowledge of GraphQL and Java Spring Boot apps would be advantageous  

• Experienced with Git/version control workflows and Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) systems 

• Experience with Agile Methodology 

• Excellent organizational and communication skills 

• Have a keen eye for clean and effective UX/UI
