Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Engineering Manager to support the Director of Software Engineering in managing engineering operations and ensuring projects are on track. You will play a pivotal role in program management and operational efficiency, taking a strong sense of ownership over delivery and team performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Management:

1. Oversee day-to-day engineering operations, ensuring efficiency, high productivity, and meeting SLAs.

2. Monitor team capacity, workloads, and allocate resources effectively to ensure smooth functioning.

3. Drive continuous improvement of operational processes.

Program Management:

1. Lead and manage multiple projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with business goals.

2. Collaborate with Product Management, QA, and other cross-functional teams to ensure project milestones are met.

3. Identify potential project blockers early and communicate them with clear mitigation strategies.

4. Maintain up-to-date project documentation, status reports, and ensure proper tracking of progress.

Design Oversight:

1. Collaborate with Technical Leads /  Architects to ensure that design decisions align with technical requirements and business objectives.

2. Oversee and review design processes, ensuring they meet best practices and are scalable and maintainable.

Ownership and Accountability:

1. Take full ownership of the operational success and technical delivery of your team.

2. Proactively drive problem-solving and decision-making within the team, escalating issues when necessary.

3. Ensure a high level of accountability within the team, fostering a culture of ownership and responsibility.

Team Leadership & Development:

1. Manage and coach a team of engineers, helping them set goals, providing feedback, and encouraging career development.

2. Conduct regular performance reviews and offer guidance to help engineers achieve both individual and team goals.


Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

2. 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2+ years in a leadership or managerial role.

3. Proven experience managing software engineering teams in a SaaS or product-based company.

4. Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), Agile methodologies, and program management.

5. Experience with system design oversight in collaboration with technical architects.

6. Strong sense of ownership and accountability for team success.

7. Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with a focus on driving team performance and collaboration.

8. Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure.

9. Proficiency in modern project management tools.

Nice to Have:

1. Experience working in high-growth SaaS environments.

2. Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.

3. Knowledge of cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
