What is this job about?

We are looking for a stellar Software Engineer (Backend) to help develop our products and the underlying platform. Our engineers turn cutting-edge AI tech into robust and delightful software, deployed in factories around the world. A key factor in the success of any startup is to focus persistently on the most important work. Your tasks and responsibilities will evolve, based on those priorities, what you bring to the table, and how you grow. For example:

• Solving technical challenges in software development, from scoping and architecting to implementation, continuous improvement, and scaling.

• Assessing and testing new technologies and applications, to gain real-world insights about their viability as new offerings.

• Tackling entrepreneurial work, such as working closely with customers to really understand painpoints, or teaming up with sales to drive home the business value of our tools.

First and foremost, we believe in curious people who are eager to learn and grow. In terms of qualifications, an MSc in Computer Science or a related field would be an excellent basis. We also welcome any other background that equipped you with the skillset to be a Software Engineer.

What do you need to succeed in this role?

• Are you quick to take ownership, and act readily on fresh insights?

• Are you known for high standards and acute attention to detail?

• Are you happy to be either scrappy or meticulous, as appropriate, depending on context?

• Are you aware when you need to pull in help, and where you can meaningfully offer it?

Skill and experience also matter, of course.

• Are you proficient in Python?

• Are you familiar with team-based development and deployment of complex software?

• Do you bring solid working experience with tools for revision control, issue tracking, documentation, and testing?

• Do you have excellent communication skills in spoken and written English?
