Description
This position is a part of the Infrastructure Engineering organization, and is a full-time, permanent position. The position is ideal for someone who wants to work on Linux systems supporting the observability platforms that the rest of the organization uses and depends on. This position provides a unique opportunity to work on large deployments of the various OSS based observability systems.
· Design, build, and maintain logging platforms.
· Design, build, and maintain metrics and tracing platforms.
· Design, build, and maintain front end visualization tools.
· Design, build, and maintain supporting applications used by the logging/metrics platforms.
· Support and maintain the network capture visibility platforms.
· Support and maintain network packet brokers.
· Work with other teams in support of above systems.
· Research, create documentation, and provide examples for end users on how to use the above systems.
Requirements
· Experience with supporting and troubleshooting server hardware.
o General hardware support and troubleshooting
o Performance related troubleshooting
· Experience supporting Linux
o Genearal Linux system support
o bash scripting
· Knowledge of server hardware
· Knowledge of TCP/IP and the OSI Model for support of the network capture and visibility platforms.
· Specific applications that this position will own and support
o Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana
o Opensearch, Graylog, MongoDB
o Grafana, Grafana Loki
o Prometheus, Grafana Mimir, Metrictank
o Grafana Tempo, Jaeger
o Kafka, RedPanda, Redis, min.io
o nProbe, Plixar Scrutinizer, ntopng
o Arkime
o Elastic Beats, Fluentbit, OpenTelemetry
· Experience with k8s and/or containerization platforms.
· Familiarity with the GitOps method of system and platform management
· Usage of automation and automation tools.
o Bash scripting
o Ruby or other high level languages
o Puppet, Ansible, Terraform
· Specific knowledge as it pertains to network monitoring and packet capture with Linux systems
o Kernel optimizations
o CPU optimizations for accurate captures
o Network cards and kernel bypass drivers
