Staff DevOps Software Engineer

About the Role

The Test & Measurement Group in Austin is seeking a Software Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will help design, develop, and maintain the systems, tools, and automation that support software development and delivery across Windows, Linux, and macOS platforms.

You will work closely with software engineers, test engineers, and product teams to improve developer productivity, enhance build and release processes, and ensure reliable software delivery. This role combines software engineering, automation, CI/CD, and infrastructure management, providing opportunities to solve complex technical challenges and make a broad impact across multiple product lines.

We are hiring for this position in Austin, Texas. This is 4 days in the office and 1 day remote position.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain CI/CD pipelines that support efficient and reliable software delivery. 
• Develop automation solutions using Python and scripting technologies to improve engineering workflows. 
• Design, maintain, and improve build and release systems across Windows, Linux, and macOS environments. 
• Collaborate with development and test teams to streamline software integration, validation, and release activities. 
• Monitor and improve the reliability, performance, and scalability of build and deployment infrastructure. 
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues affecting software builds, deployments, and engineering systems. 
• Support source control management and development workflows using Git and related tools. 
• Identify opportunities to improve developer productivity through automation and process improvements. 
• Partner with cross-functional teams to understand challenges and implement scalable technical solutions. 
• Document systems, processes, and best practices to support long-term maintainability.

Position Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field. 
• Minimum 2+ years of experience in software engineering, DevOps, infrastructure engineering, or related roles. 
• Strong programming and scripting skills using Python and/or similar languages. 
• Experience with source control systems such as Git. 
• Experience working in Linux and Windows environments. 
• Understanding of CI/CD concepts and software delivery practices. 
• Familiarity with automation and workflow optimization. 
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
• US Citizenship or Green Card Holder.

Preferred Qualifications (What Sets You Apart)

• Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar platforms. 
• Experience supporting build and release processes for complex software products. 
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. 
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or similar technologies. 
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure. 
• Experience developing automation for testing, deployment, or engineering workflows. 
• Familiarity with networking concepts and troubleshooting. 
• Experience supporting development platforms and engineering infrastructure. 
• Knowledge of DevOps best practices, observability, and system reliability principles. 
• Experience working with distributed teams in a collaborative engineering environment.
