Job description

Embark Studios is hiring a Software Engineer, Audio — a full-time, based in Stockholm role. Apply directly on Embark Studios's careers page below.

As an Audio Software Engineer at Embark, you and your closest colleagues will own the audio side of gameplay across our games. You'll be embedded in a small, tight-knit audio team and take real ownership - picking up problems independently, driving solutions forward, and helping shape how sound feels across everything we build.

The games we make are built in Unreal, using C++, Blueprints, and AngelScript. This is a role that expects you to navigate complex systems with confidence, collaborate closely with designers and other engineers, and bring ideas to the table - not just execute on them.

Example of responsibilities

  • Implement and iterate on audio gameplay systems

  • Build tools and integrations that help our audio team work faster and more creatively

  • Identify and fix issues across the full audio pipeline, from authoring to in-game playback

  • Explore emerging approaches to game audio - including AI-assisted systems, generative audio, and dynamic commentary

  • Collaborate across disciplines to make sure sound enhances every part of the player experience

We would love if you have

  • Solid experience in game development, with a strong understanding of how audio fits into the full gameplay loop

  • Strong C++ skills and a methodical approach to systems programming

  • An educational background in engineering or computer science, or equivalent hands-on experience

  • A genuine passion for game audio - you care deeply about how games sound and feel

  • The ability to work independently and own your work end to end

Additionally, one or some of these would be a great bonus

  • Experience with Unreal Engine and its audio systems

  • Ideas or hands-on experience with AI audio - think third-party voice generation, dynamic NPC commentary, or procedural sound systems

At Embark we offer competitive salaries, passionate colleagues to share knowledge with and much more, but most of all we invite you to take part of a journey into the unknown, to build creative, surprising and beautiful experiences together.

Be yourself at Embark and make games while doing so. Please apply with confidence. We can’t wait to hear from you (in English)!
