About the team - Our team is a diverse group of software engineers, data scientists, and research scientists who develop innovative approaches to improve existing software products and create new products. Our platform search engine is found across our portfolio of products in Health Markets and allows users to search our vast corpus of medical textbooks, journals, and synoptic content. The search team’s focus is developing and maintaining our current search system as well as keeping an eye to the future and implementing vector-based search capabilities.   

Out the role; We are seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead and manage two teams of software developers, infrastructure engineers, and quality engineers. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining our core search engine, which serves as a vital component utilized by multiple products within the Health Markets platform, including our flagship product ClinicalKey. You will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, performance, and reliability of the search engine. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with architecture and other cross-functional teams to design and implement a new vector-based search system. Your leadership and technical acumen will be instrumental in driving the evolution of our search capabilities and enhancing the user experience across our platform. 

Responsibilities: 

• Leading and managing two teams of software developers, infrastructure engineers, and quality engineers working on the search engine. 
• Ensuring the stability, performance, and reliability of the core search engine used by multiple products across our HM portfolio. Collaborating with architecture and other cross-functional teams to design and implement a new vector-based search system. 
• Providing technical guidance and mentorship to the team members, fostering their professional growth and development. Setting clear goals and expectations for the teams, ensuring alignment with the overall company objectives. 
• Driving continuous improvement in software development processes, tools, and methodologies. Collaborating with product managers and stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions. 
• Ensuring effective communication and coordination within the teams and with other departments. Staying up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in search technologies, and apply relevant knowledge to enhance the search engine. 

Qualification

• Have Current proficiency in and experience with any of the following tools: Java, Python, Solr, Elasticsearch, AWS, Kubernetes, Airflow, Docker 
• Possess Current people management skills
• Experience with Agile best practices and JIRA 
• Thrives working collaboratively and enjoys supporting, learning from, and sharing knowledge with a team of people from different backgrounds.  Experience with vector-based information retrieval services 
• Experience with retrieval-augmented generation systems
