Job Description

The Embedded Firmware internship provides hands-on experience in firmware development for microcontroller-based systems. The intern will work closely with senior engineers on real-world projects involving embedded systems, firmware debugging, hardware bring-up, and system validation.

This internship is based in our Milwaukee, WI Headquarters.

Key Accountabilities

• Assist in firmware development for microcontrollers (C/C++).

• Support board bring-up and hardware/firmware integration testing.

• Debug and resolve firmware issues under supervision.

• Write and maintain test cases, scripts, and documentation for embedded systems.

• Perform lab work, including using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and debuggers.

• Collaborate with hardware and software teams to implement new features and verify designs.

• Contribute to code reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science.

• Experience with RTOS concepts.

• Knowledge of wireless protocols (LoRa, BLE, Wi-Fi).

• Coursework/projects in embedded systems, IoT, or PCB design.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

• Curiosity, eagerness to learn, and attention to detail.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
