ROLE OVERVIEW:

Following a recent internal promotion, we now have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Medical Director to lead the launch of our Haematology asset(s) within the Oncology Business Unit in the UK and Ireland.

As the Haematology Medical Lead, you will be an integral member of the Northern European Hub medical affairs team for all medical affairs launch and commercialization activities to meet patients’ needs and ultimately enhance the customers´ experience.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Lead all medical affairs activities in haematology oncology for the United Kingdom (UK) / Republic of Ireland (ROI) affiliate whilst collaborating with the Northern Europe Hub, Regional and Global teams as required.
    • Initially the role will include responsibility for a haematology oncology product, but the scope may vary in the future as our pipeline evolves. 
  • Work with all other functions such as clinical development /operations, real world evidence, marketing, pricing and reimbursement, public affairs, regulatory. safety and medical information.
  • Visible leadership to other members of the Medical Department and the broader UK and Ireland enterprise.
  • Identify and engage with Health Care Professionals (HCPs), Advocacy Groups, Government and other Professional Bodies as determined by business needs.
  • Develop and support multiple medical affairs projects including but not limited to advisory boards, medical education, congress activities, real world evidence and compassionate use programmes. Engage with our international business unit partners to ensure global to local alignment of our customer plans.
  • Additional medical activities may include business planning, approval of tactics/materials and joint working with other Lilly functions.
  • Ensures that all activities are in compliance with current local and international regulations, laws, guidance, Good Clinical Practices (GCPs), company standards, Lilly policies and procedures, global quality standards, the principles of Medical Research and activities are aligned with the medical vision.:
    • Additionally, knowledge and expertise of the UK ABPI code including review and certification of materials for medical accuracy and compliance with the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) Code of Practice and Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) Blue Guide.
    • Comply with Good Pharmaceutical Medical Practice, Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and all UK laws.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education:
    • Advanced life sciences degree (MBBS / MD, PhD, Pharmacy)

  • Preference for a physician with either industry or clinical experience in Haematology and/or Oncology

ADDITIONAL SKILLS & PREFERENCES:

  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry within clinical development or medical affairs
  • Therapy Area expertise in Haematology and/or Oncology
  • Understanding of the haematology and oncology customer, haematology and oncology business, with strong planning and execution skills.
  • Comfortable in interpreting technical scientific/medical data/research and communicating with credibility, with good presentation skills.
  • Evidence of good leadership and teamwork in a cross-functional environment and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel to customers, meetings and congresses
  • Existing Final Medical Signatory or capability
