LCCI Market Research – Lead Consultant

Eli Lilly has a broad portfolio of in-market and near launch brands In United States. Brand and marketing teams rely on strong market research support to understand brand performance, identify new opportunities, create marketing plans, and recommend tactical adjustments, if necessary.  Additionally, and just as important, are brand agnostic and cross-brand initiatives that require insights delivered by the voice of the customer.

Position Description:

This market research position will be responsible for delivering relevant customer and market insights and compelling recommendations in support of Masterbrand, above-brand, cross-functional, and new product planning initiatives.

This position will serve as the central figure in all Market Research activities for key functional areas from leading assessments, primary customer research, and synthesis/secondary research to enable more informed business decisions across these key functional groups. This role will work closely with various stakeholders and drive critical decisions across business units and functional areas. It will also provide a wide range of experiences and exposure to market understanding and strategy while working closely with Business Insights & Analytics, Lilly Value & Access, Medical Affairs, Lilly Direct, and Lilly Support Services to name a few.

Responsibilities:

  • Be the key resource for primary customer research requirements of key Lilly functional areas and above-brand initiatives.
  • Be an objective voice of the customer and market to influence customer strategy and key business decisions.  Communicate this voice effectively in various situations.
  • Synthesize learning across studies and key players to develop deeper insight into the market and customer to drive strategic thinking and solution development to advance the key areas of the organization.
  • Proactively identify business issues and lead the team in complex problem solving.
  • Interpret data analysis to develop the customer and market story which drives the organization to more comprehensive patient-based solutions.
  • Understand how different data collection techniques (including anthropological, sociological, linguistic, semiotic, etc.) can help tell a compelling story.
  • Lead large-scale, inter-related projects with tight deadlines and multiple business partners; must generate scenarios to anticipate inevitable change and deal with ongoing challenges.
  • Understand how Lilly Business Insights & Analytics can be leveraged and used to mine data across multiple studies and sources to identify new findings and insights.
  • Build strong relationships within the central organization, cross functional areas, and IBU team and with business partners, preferred agencies, peers, academic and professional societies.

Expected Competencies:

  • Very high Problem Definition skills – define the critical business questions and current gaps in knowledge preventing confident decision making.  Identifies a methodology, scope, and approach that drives strategic business solutions.
  • Expert in Insights, Analysis and Synthesis – derive and discover insights by identifying business problems and integrating, synthesizing, and/or thinking critically about data and insights to define, develop and activate strategies across customer groups.
  • Communication and Influence - Adapts approach by tailoring a clear, concise, and compelling message based on audience and uses relevant data and examples to lead internal and external stakeholders to outcomes.
  • Industry Knowledge- Very strong Pharma and Healthcare industry knowledge.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • MBA/Postgraduate with life sciences background OR PhD in Lifesciences stream
  • 12-14 years of Market Research (Primary Market Research and/or Business Consulting) experience in healthcare domain with proven business and technical expertise
