THE OPPORTUNITY:

As a Senior Tools Engineer at Eleventh Hour Games, you will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining the internal tools and workflows that empower our teams to create and iterate on content efficiently in the Last Epoch universe. The ideal candidate is highly collaborative, product-minded, and able to balance usability with technical robustness.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and maintain clear documentation and best practices for tool usage and workflow standards
  • Identify pipeline bottlenecks and proactively propose solutions that improve productivity and quality
  • Ensure tooling is performant, maintainable, and resilient as project scope and team size grow
  • Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and long-term tooling strategy planning
  • Support live development by improving and maintaining tools that enable new content, updates, and operational needs

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of professional game development experience as a Tools Engineer, Engine Programmer, or similar role
  • Strong experience building developer tools, pipelines, or editors used by designers and/or artists in production
  • Solid understanding of software architecture, maintainable systems design, and data-driven workflows
  • Strong debugging, profiling, and problem-solving skills with a focus on improving developer experience
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and build tools that are intuitive and actually used
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team
  • Comfortable working in a fully remote, globally distributed studio
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to gather requirements and iterate with stakeholders

PREFERENCES:

  • Experience supporting systems-heavy games (ARPGs/RPGs) or live-service content pipelines
  • Experience building content validation, diagnostics, or automation frameworks
  • Familiarity with modern real-time engines and content authoring pipelines
  • Experience improving build/iteration workflows and developer efficiency at scale
