DEPARTMENT: Engineering
Who we are
Electreon is a global leader in developing and implementing Wireless Electric Road Systems (ERS) - a shared, invisible platform that wirelessly charges commercial and passenger electric vehicles while driving and significantly decreases battery size, EV cost and weight and improves fleets operational efficiency.
Electreon offers governments, cities and fleet operators the most sustainable and cost-effective solution on the way to 100% global electrification.
We believe that our technology will help eliminate the use of fossil fuels in transportation for a cleaner environment. Sounds Sci-Fi...? We already know it is not!
What we are looking for
Electreon is developing a unique cloud based IOT system for charging vehicles wirelessly and on-the-go. As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will be developing complex firmware for our devices deployed on the roads and on compatible EVs.
The ideal candidate should be proactive, excited about technology, innovation and sustainability, be a true team player, with a sense of ownership and able to handle frequent and complex technical challenges.
What you will do
- Work on multiple, complex projects requiring innovative and creative solutions to challenging embedded systems problems.
- Develop deep expertise as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for multiple systems, with a detailed understanding of system architecture and interactions between hardware and software components.
- Architect, design and develop embedded software for wireless charging systems including board configuration, board bring-up, device drivers, run-time diagnostics, networking, and user-space applications.
- Take ownership of full device software lifecycle, from low-level software (including drivers, diagnostics and board bring up), to embedded applications, business-logic, networking, and configuration management.
- Work closely with hardware engineers to bring up new boards and systems, troubleshoot hardware/software integration issues, evaluate hardware architectures, review schematics and board layouts, and assess third-party chipsets from a software perspective.
- Develop interface documentation, inspection tools, and other engineering tools as needed.
- Design, develop, and execute software and hardware test systems, including comprehensive test documentation.
- Design, develop, and integrate industry-standard communication interfaces with vehicle manufacturers, utility companies, and charging network providers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant technical experience.
- Strong understanding of software architecture and the ability to develop robust, maintainable software designs.
- Fluent in C and C++.
- 5+ years of professional software development experience in an embedded systems environment is preferred; candidates with less experience who demonstrate strong technical aptitude and relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
- Knowledge of embedded hardware interfaces and communication protocols, such as CAN, SPI, I2C, PWM, UART, USB, ADC, DAC, Ethernet, and Modbus.
- Experience with the full product design and development lifecycle, including requirements definition, software architecture and design, implementation, integration, testing, configuration management, and defect tracking.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of assignments and drive them through completion.
- Experience developing software and automation tools using Python.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot software and hardware integration issues.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively across functional areas, including engineering, documentation, technical support, marketing, and sales.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Advantages:
- Knowledge of electric vehicles (EVs) and/or EV charging systems.
- Experience with FreeRTOS or other real-time operating systems (RTOS).
- Experience with FPGA and FPGA-based systems.
- Exposure to Yocto Project and embedded Linux build systems.
- Background in electronics and digital signal processing.
