Junior Application Engineer

Overview

Edgewater Federal Solutions is seeking a Junior Application Engineer to support a major national laboratoy. 

 

The successful candidate shall be proficient in the following areas: custom computer programming, commercial-off-the-shelf application configuration and customization, report development, dev-ops, scripting, and testing.

Responsibilities

• Assist in enhancing the overall functionality of software by improving software architecture, supporting existing software, and engineering hardware components that optimize various technologies.
• This role involves providing technical support to clients, testing applications, maintaining hardware, and responding to customer requests.
• The Application Engineer will also analyze complex system requirements, design software tools and subsystems, and manage software development and support processes.
• Manage software development and support using formal specifications, data flow diagrams, other accepted design techniques and Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools.
• Estimate software development costs and schedule.
• Review existing programs and assist in making refinements, reducing operating time, and improving current techniques.
• Candidate will gather functional requirements, document processes, could start learning some application development.

Qualifications

• AS/AA in relevant discipline plus minimum 2 years or more years of directly related experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job.
• Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance
• US Citizenship is Required
• Candidate must reside in the Albuquerque area as work is performed onsite.

• Experience troubleshooting hardware IT issues
• Experience gathering IT requirements
• Ability to translate customer needs into technical requirements
• Basic understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC)
• Experience troubleshooting desktop applications
• Process documentation and technical writing
• Analytical and critical-thinking skill
• Basic understanding of software architecture concepts

 

Desired Skills:

• .Net development experience
• SQL experience
