About the team:

eBay is seeking an Information Security Threat Hunter to join our highly visible Threat Management & Response Organization (TMR) to mature and automate our threat hunting and vulnerability management programs. This position will perform operational threat hunting and research as well as reporting around critical vulnerabilities that would be a threat to our infrastructure, technology platforms and endpoints.

Working within eBay’s TMR organization you will have the opportunity to build innovative solutions to identify and mitigate information-security threats. With your contributions, we’re building the best security operations center in the industry. Your skills, vision, tenacity, and passion will help us defend and respond daily to keep eBay’s critical information assets away from threats and hackers.

What you will accomplish:

• Stay up-to-date and informed on the constantly evolving landscape of cyber-attacks.

• Lead and manage the threat hunting process, applying analytical and investigative skills to identify and respond to potential threats.

• Comfortability with development languages and writing code, in order to either fix security vulnerabilities in code, dependencies, containers, and infrastructure as code or influence other product and infrastructure teams and working large data sets from multiple systems and tools.

• Producing high-quality papers, presentations, recommendations, and findings for Senior Level Management and Enterprise Technology Leaders, distributing operational-level reports to drive remediation activities when vital.

• Briefings and presentations to leadership supporting Information Security and Network Operations decision making and providing situational awareness to executives and partners of emerging threats and breaches with appropriate mentorship on impact to eBay, Inc.

• Learn and emulate actions performed by major threat actor groups to test defensive postures of the organization and then help drive fixes after testing cycles, both as short-term mitigations and long-term improvements.

• During major security incidents, assist in the investigation, response, and resolution of the incident, including analysis of external and internal threats, containment, and mitigation efforts to ensure the protection of organizational assets and data integrity.

What you will bring:

• Proven track record in Cyber Threat Hunting with 8+ years experience and preferred bachelor’s degree in computer science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a related field.

• Appropriate technical certifications in vulnerability management technologies to support domain expertise.

• Experience in an IT or security DevOps role working with developers to remediate vulnerabilities before code deployment.

• Familiarity with common Vulnerability Management tools used in VM and container computer environments (i.e., Tenable, Qualys, Prisma Cloud, Anchor, Wiz, etc.).

• Experience with application security tools including BurpSuite and Snyk with experience in programming languages, coding and code review automation – Java, PowerShell, Python, etc.

• Experience with deploying and patching around configuration as code systems, services, containers and applications and solid grasp of common vulnerability frameworks (e.g., CVSS, OWASP Top 10).

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York is expected in the range below.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
