Who We Are

Authenticity Guarantee is an important initiative in eBay where a select category of items are authenticated by professional authenticators to increase buyer confidence, satisfaction & trust. Authentication Technology team is responsible for building software solutions for orchestrating the process of authentication. This involves building software solutions for receiving, shipping, warehouse operations, storage, imaging, mobile applications on android platform, integration with custom hardware & RFID readers

Who You Are

The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for spearheading the design, development, and implementation of software solutions. This role combines technical expertise with leadership skills to guide a team of developers, ensure high-quality work you're doing, and drive the successful completion of projects. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving abilities, a deep understanding of software development practices, and experience in delivering complex solutions

The Impact You Will Make Here

• Architect, design, develop and test sophisticated, multi-tier distributed software systems focused on Authenticating & storing high value luxury items

• Drive architecture discussions, produce well-documented design docs, and drive design and code reviews ensuring alignment to standard methodologies

• Collaborate with product managers, partners, and cross multi-functionalism to develop software solutions that meet functional and non-functional requirements, define project plans and results.

• Estimate engineering effort, plan execution cycles, and rollout system changes

• Identify and address performance bottlenecks in software systems & ensure systems are secure, scalable, and maintainable

• Write Unit and Integration tests and ensure software developed meets high quality standards

• Stay updated on new technologies and integrate them into development processes whenever applicable.

• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

What You Bring to the Team

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field plus proven ability or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field plus 7+ years of hands-on experience in building large-scale distributed systems

• Excellent understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures and algorithms. Expertise in all layers of multi-tier applications to design sophisticated solutions and maintain them

• Strong expertise in front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks/libraries like React, Angular, or Vue.js.

• Extensive hands-on experience and expertise in object-oriented design methodology and application development using Java/J2EE or Ruby/Rails, Design Patterns, Spring and Spring Boot frameworks, Web services and Caching mechanisms

• Hands-on experience with cloud-based systems, particularly Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including deploying, managing, and optimizing cloud-based applications and cloud databases, performance tradeoffs and load balancing

• Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & standard methodologies for full software creation process, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operations

• Experience leading a team of software engineers and a track record of completing projects on schedule and with high quality

Bonus points for:

• Experience developing mobile applications on Android platform

• Google Cloud Developer or Architect Certification

• Experience in DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines using Github Actions & Workflows

• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes

• Knowledge of NoSQL database systems
