About the team and the role:

The Lead Manager, Technology Communications role is dedicated to driving compelling external and internal communications, engagement, and cultural change at one of the world’s iconic brands! Partnering directly with senior executives and agency counterparts, the person in this role will work to develop and deliver communications for key initiatives and programs!

The role requires a communicator who is committed to high quality and innovation. They love the challenge of capturing a leader’s voice, creative storytelling, and working in a fast paced, highly collaborative environment. They have communications experience in the Technology/Ecommerce space and understand the key event and media opportunities to best position eBay as a top-tier technology company.

This is a hands-on role where you will be both conceiving the strategy and delivering most of that strategy’s tactical elements. Examples of day-to-day work include writing, producing, and editing messages for a range of channels, producing large in-person meetings and webinars, writing briefings, talking points and content for external speaking and media opportunities, collaborating with eBay’s external PR agency partners, and developing communication channels.  

The ideal candidate has a talent for partnering effectively with key internal partners and external vendors to drive active understanding and engagement with our brand, our business goals and priorities, and eBay’s purpose to empower people to build economic opportunity for all.

What you will accomplish:

  • Develop and implement employee communications strategies for multiple teams and programs in support of business strategy and priorities.

  • Advance our business goals, values, and forge deeper connections to our leaders through external events and employee communications, programs, and events.

  • Build compelling presentations for executives for a broad range of external and internal audiences (e.g., team meetings, Board meetings, external speaking opportunities, investor meetings, customer panels, etc..) including managing content from ideation to stage for external and internal use.

  • Provide communications expertise, counsel, and support designated leaders and partners.

  • Help support the 360-degree communication approach for Core Technology that delivers on our business goals and advances eBay’s brand and reputation externally.

  • Actively manage the eBay technology strong media strategy, work hand-in-glove with agency partners,

What you will bring:

  • 10+ years of communications experience in roles that have driven understanding and positive perception of companies, products, and services. 5 + years working in communications in the Technology/Ecommerce sector.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills with a special ability to cut through with a succinct, modern communication style. Video editing/production experience is a plus.

  • Positive relationships with PR/media contacts in the Tech media space, experience in telling the story of tech companies externally. 

  • Change management experience including sophisticated organizational and cultural change.

  • Capacity to manage sophisticated projects, navigating conflict and driving consensus.

  • Self-starter who works independently and can manage time and multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Work with external partners and our media/PR team to advance CTO communications and our brand globally.

  • Proven track record to work with partners at all levels.

  • Experience managing and participating in project teams in a matrixed environment without direct reports.

  • Operate as a trusted business partner by providing valuable advice and appropriate pushback when appropriate.

  • Resilient, quick learner with strategic instincts and patience under pressure.

  • Diligent, highly organized, fiercely committed to quality; able to manage multiple overlapping projects switching between them as required.

  • Works well in a global, matrixed environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results – focusing on outcomes and impact rather than inputs.

  • Empathy, good emotional intelligence as well as cultural sensitivity

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York is expected in the range below.

$126,800 - $187,550

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
