The SEO, Site Navigation and Browse teams work among product, operations, development, data science and analytics as well as other cross-domain organizations to build scalable and highly available business solutions that are used by millions of eBay users across the globe every day. We are responsible for driving organic traffic that represents billions of dollars worth of goods and services bought on eBay.

We are looking to hire an experienced Data Analyst to join the SEO, Site Navigation and Browse team to influence decision making of the product roadmap with their actionable insights. Your focus will be supporting various product launches to measure the impact on customer behavior and SEO (search engine optimization). In addition to robust statistical knowledge, it is vital to have strong intellectual curiosity, and a passion for achieving practical business impact. Skills in quantitative analysis, problem definition, and an attention to detail are required.

Responsibilities

  • Work with product partners to find practical solutions to our business problems based on data. This will require an ability to translate problems stated in business terms into quantitative approaches leading to projects starting small and aspiring to grow big if preliminary results are promising
  • Set up testing (A/B test or pre-post) to measure performance in the best possible way
  • Analyze large sets of data to understand the impact of product changes on the customer journey and to traffic/revenue goals.
  • Drive cohort studies and drive analyses to understand customer behavior and find opportunities for improving our product(s)
  • Transform scientific/data analysis and communicate business performance in a clear and insightful way to the product teams to facilitate timely and informed decision-making
  • Ensure statistical rigor is applied to all analyses and business recommendations

Requirements

  • Understanding of statistics, experimental design, and causal inference.
  • Good SQL skills as well as experience with common data and statistical toolkits such as R, Python, PySpark etc.
  • Expertise with business intelligence and/or data visualization tools such as Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, Excel
  • Prior experience in performance measurement, creatively applying regression techniques/modelling, optimization techniques, A/B testing, etc. in order to turn the data into actionable insights
  • Ability to present complex analyses and insights effectively in simple terms
  • An ability to spot and pursue opportunities as well as to translate high-level directions into practical projects and lead/drive their completion with minimal supervision.
  • Leads small analytics project team and responsible for driving the project plan. Identifies the appropriate resources, priorities, schedules, and provides project status updates.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and social skills with the ability to communicate with all levels in the organization in a clear, timely and effective manner
  • BS/BA degree Statistics, Applied Econometrics, Math, Physics, Computer Science, other related Core Sciences or equivalent.
  • Mentoring more junior team members.  Foster teamwork and knowledge sharing amongst peers and analytics teams.
  • Good business acumen in understanding and dealing with business situation in a manner that is likely to lead to a good business unit result. Making good business decisions thinking from the customer's viewpoint. 
  • 6+ years relevant professional experience as a business/ product analyst, data scientist, or related field or Master’s degree 3+ yrs.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York is expected in the range below.

$135,200 - $205,700

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
