Due to business growth, Eaton’s ES AMER ARS PDCAD division is currently seeking a Sr Mechanical Engineer. This role is based at our Greenwood, SC Eaton manufacturing facility and offers relocation to those currently residing in the United States.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $83250.0 - $122100.0 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will drive innovation in Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) technology! You will work on NPD projects, spearhead design reviews, shape technology roadmaps, and build strategic partnerships. With responsibilities spanning IP strategy, system specification, and advanced system testing, this role positions you to revolutionize sustainable energy solutions!
What you’ll do:
- Co-lead the NPD project execution related to the tank and seal design of Compact/GIS Switchgear for the Medium Voltage Assemblies team.
- Act as the technical expert for complex technology and product realization programs/projects involving multiple components utilizing internal project execution processes and leading Design Reviews and Technical Reviews.
- Co-lead the development of and owns strategies for technology roadmaps and product architectures for broad applications that are linked to and supportive of business strategies.
- Co-lead ideation events related to managing tank isolation and pressurization.
- Strategically identify external partnerships, outside technologies and best practices for multiple applications that has cross alignments to multiple technology platforms and business strategies.
- Set IP strategy with business unit stakeholders and actively contributes to IP generation.
- Define requirements and assist in executing project aspects involving multiple stakeholders from technology investigation, system specification, test plan & execution, modeling & simulation, component selection, system packaging & thermal analysis.
- Collaborate with lab support personnel in the execution of complex system tests at low and medium voltage.
Qualifications:
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited institution
- Three years of engineering experience designing cast metal parts, hydraulic or pneumatic seal and component design, or pressure vessel design
- Must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship now and within the future
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of experience within the HV or MV Switchgear domain with experience in design and development of system architecture, component specifications of Gas Insulated Switchgear systems.
- Demonstrated experience in model-based design and simulation techniques for various aspects of system design including thermal management, dielectric, advanced mechanical systems and reliability
- Understanding of various aspects of switchgear systems and impact to the overall performance, familiarity of and application of available technologies, ability to develop trade-off analyses to enable realization of designs that meet performance requirements and cost objective solutions
