Eaton’s Aerospace Division is currently seeking a Lead Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Jackson, MI facility.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $93750.03 - $137500.04 a year.

What you’ll do:
Primary Function:
Responsible for design, specification, and implementation of safe and efficient manufacturing processes, including machine guarding and controls, tooling, fixtures, gauges, material handling, and process documentation. Support day-to-day manufacturing operation as part of cross-functional High Performance Work Team. Collect and analyze manufacturing data to implement process improvements that improve safety, product quality, customer delivery, and cost reductions. Provide on-floor process information for training and meeting engineering standards. Support and provide production associates the tools required to perform the job in a manner to meet all requirements. Lead special process(es) and serve as subject matter expert. Lead cross functional teams, projects (including capital), and problem solving efforts. Provide mentorship to others in Manufacturing Engineering competencies. Drive strategic initiatives and process improvements.
Essential Functions:
• Design, maintain and improve safety and environmentally responsible manufacturing processes using Eaton and other industry standard practices.
• Designs processes to ensure that components and assemblies meet all internal and external customer quality specifications (Eaton Quality System, AS9100, and NADCAP).
• Active member of High Performance Work Team (HPWT)/Focus Factory to support on-time delivery of customer orders through the manufacturing process excellence, including troubleshooting machine and tooling problems, supporting the DMR process for review and disposition of non-conforming materials, implementing continuous flow concepts, and training production employees to execute processes.
• Design equipment, gauging, and tooling utilizing CATIA solid modeling software and other engineering analysis and design tools. Work with suppliers and purchasing to procure equipment, tooling, and supplies as required.
• Create, maintain, and improve PFMEAs, routers, standard work instructions, equipment PMs, technique sheets, and equipment programs to ensure safety, quality, and cost targets are achieved.
• Collect and analyze manufacturing data and metrics to aid in design and improvement of processes.
• Provide support to launch projects through ProLaunch team as required to achieve a flawless launch.
• Lead and facilitate teams solving complex problems, driving root cause, and implementing corrective actions. Utilize lean six sigma concepts to reduce waste and process variation such as DMAIC.
• Lead and support capital projects and implementation of process improvements including project management activities, budgets, requirements, and documentation.
• Coach, mentor, and train manufacturing engineering competencies, processes, and lean concepts.
• Champion of one or more MESH elements (hot work, chemical, testing, etc.)
• Lead engineering and manufacturing change management activities.
• Technical lead and subject matter expert for one or more special processes (area support, standard work, compliance, training, etc.).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field
- Minimum of Five (5) years of experience in a technical role
supporting manufacturing processes or other related engineering function. - This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
- No Relocation. Only candidates that currently reside within the immediate geographical area of 50 miles of Jackson, MI will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
- Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Weld Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering.
- Seven (7) or more years of post-degree professional experience in a technical role
supporting manufacturing processes or other related engineering functions. - Proficient at AIAG or equivalent tools for Measurement System Analysis, Capability Analysis, SPC and PFMEA.
- Machine Design (mechanical and controls) knowledge for equipment improvements to product and process.
- Lean Six Sigma certification(s) and demonstrated results.
- Experience leading NADCAP, customer quality/special process, or other industry-standard audits.
- Experience in metal fabrication, tube bending, welding/brazing, machining, chemical processes, heat treat, and non-destructive testing.
