About the role:
EasyPost is seeking an experienced and skilled Staff Software Engineer to join our growing eCommerce product engineering team. This team is responsible for developing new products and services within the eCommerce space to leverage EasyPost's world-class shipping products.
What you will do:
o Lead and influence the long-term technical vision and roadmap in collaboration with senior leadership and product management.
o Design and spearhead complex, high-impact changes to eCommerce integration systems, focusing on scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
o Provide mentorship to engineers, actively participate in product and feature design, and contribute to code reviews.
o Act as a subject matter expert for highly complex features, offering technical leadership across teams and projects within the organization, removing obstacles to team progress, and incorporating diverse perspectives in decision-making.
o Foster transparent communication with both technical and non-technical team members, proactively sharing information in a manner that allows everyone to understand the reasoning behind decisions.
o Develop and maintain clear, comprehensive technical documentation, including system architecture, design documents, and user guides, ensuring their adoption and use across the organization.
About you:
o 10+ years of software development experience, or equivalent related work experience, with a proven track record of delivering complex, large-scale projects.
o Extensive full-stack development experience, with proficiency in multiple programming languages and a strong desire to learn and improve your craft as a software engineer.
o Experience building and maintaining scalable, reliable services, and distributed systems.
o Expertise with databases, ideally relational databases and schema design.
o Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively translate complex information to both technical and non-technical collaborators.
Bonus experience:
o 3rd party payment processors APIs (e.g. Stripe, Paypal)
o Modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Vue)
o eCommerce platform integrations / plugins (e.g., Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento)
