Software Development Team Leader

We’re looking for a hands-on, forward-thinking Software Development Team Leader to lead a team of experts building our next-generation Analytics & Modeling Service. You’ll guide the team from ideas and technical design through delivery, while evaluating emerging technologies and shaping how AI is adopted across our products and engineering practices. What you’ll do:

Lead the team’s day-to-day work, guiding projects from technical design through successful delivery

Evaluate emerging tools, frameworks, and architectures through focused POCs, and turn successful experiments into production-ready solutions

Drive the adoption of AI-assisted engineering across coding, testing, and code review, while measuring its impact on quality and delivery speed

Establish best practices and guardrails for AI-driven development, and promote them across the R&D organization

Partner with Product, Data Science, and Architecture to build AI-powered capabilities into the Analytics & Modeling Service

Own the architecture, APIs, and data models of the team’s components, balancing performance, scalability, reliability, and cost

Deliver product capabilities and build the infrastructure required to support performance and scale

Work directly with insurers’ business and IT teams to understand requirements, discuss architecture, integration, deployment, security, and infrastructure, demonstrate new capabilities, and incorporate customer feedback into the product

Hire, onboard, mentor, and develop team members and future leaders as the group grows

Foster a collaborative, open, and supportive culture

Requirements

You’ll do it using: 

3–5 years of proven experience as a team lead in a fast-paced environment

Strong proficiency in Java, with hands-on experience in performance and scale of Java applications on cloud services

Strong system design skills: Proven experience designing scalable, distributed, cloud-based systems, including services, APIs, data flows and infrastructure, and taking them from design to production

Experience with relational databases (advantage: JPA / Hibernate / EclipseLink) 

Deep understanding of cloud platforms (advantage: AWS: EC2, S3, ECS autoscaling, RDS)

Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor) and a clear view on how they change engineering work

A track record of evaluating new technologies and leading POCs to production adoption

Advantage:

Experience building with LLMs / GenAI (APIs, agents, RAG, MCP, prompt and evaluation practices)

Experience in customer-facing technical work, such as requirements gathering, technical discussions with client IT teams, or product demos

Experience defining engineering processes or methodologies at team or group level

Familiarity with Spark

Frontend knowledge (React, JavaScript, TypeScript).
