What you will be doing 

 What will keep you busy 

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain complex COBOL and CICS applications.
  • Build robust, scalable, and high-performing software solutions that support essential business operations.
  • Conduct code reviews and champion development best practices.
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues with a focus on quality and reliability.
  • Work closely with Business Analysts, client stakeholders, and development teams to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
  • Support project planning, estimation, and delivery activities alongside Project Managers.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Build trusted relationships with clients by providing technical expertise and responsive support.
  • Integrate new functionality into established enterprise platforms.
  • Identify opportunities to improve application performance, maintainability, and operational efficiency.
  • Contribute ideas that help modernise and optimise existing systems and processes.
  • Produce high-quality technical documentation.
  • Mentor team members and contribute to a culture of learning and collaboration.
  • Partner with QA teams to ensure solutions are thoroughly tested and meet the highest standards of quality and reliability.

The skills you will bring 

 Technical Expertise

  • 10+ years' experience developing and supporting enterprise Mainframe applications.
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, SQL, MQ, Easytrieve
  • Deep understanding of Mainframe environments and associated technologies.
  • Experience working within Agile and Scrum delivery frameworks.
  • Banking or financial services experience is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record delivering and supporting complex business-critical applications.
