Hardware Asset Management (HAM) Data Analyst
Location: Farnborough (onsite 5 days per week)
Due to the nature of the work and the customers we support, the successful candidate must be eligible to meet UK Government and contractual personnel security requirements, including the applicable residency requirements for the role, and have the right to work in the United Kingdom. Some roles may also be subject to nationality requirements where these are necessary to meet UK Government or contractual security obligations.
We are looking for an experienced Hardware Asset Management (HAM) Data Analyst to take ownership of the quality, accuracy and integrity of hardware asset data across the full asset lifecycle. This is a key role within the IT Asset Management function, providing trusted data to support financial, contractual, operational, security and compliance decisions. You will work across Asset Management, Configuration Management, Procurement, Finance, IT Operations and suppliers to ensure hardware asset information is accurate, reconciled, auditable and continuously improved. This is not simply a data entry role. You will proactively identify data quality issues, reconcile information across multiple systems, investigate discrepancies and drive improvements in the maturity and reliability of the hardware asset estate.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and maintain the quality and integrity of hardware asset records across ITAM tools, CMDBs and associated systems.
- Perform regular data quality audits and reconciliations, identifying duplicates, missing records, ghost assets, unmanaged assets and data discrepancies.
- Reconcile asset information across ITAM, CMDB, discovery, procurement and financial systems.
- Maintain accurate asset data throughout the full lifecycle, from procurement and deployment through to redeployment and disposal.
- Produce asset reports, dashboards and data quality KPIs covering inventory, lifecycle status, warranties, EOL/EOS, utilisation and compliance.
- Support financial reconciliation between the IT asset register and Finance's fixed asset register, including capitalisation, depreciation and cost information.
- Maintain accurate procurement, vendor, warranty and support contract information.
- Support internal and external audits, providing accurate data, evidence and audit trails.
- Work with operational and technical teams to improve discovery coverage and resolve data discrepancies.
- Develop and maintain data standards, validation rules, naming conventions and governance processes.
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement to reduce manual effort and improve data accuracy.
- Provide clear, actionable insight and recommendations to HAM/ITAM leadership and wider stakeholders.
What you'll bring
- Experience in IT Asset Management, Hardware Asset Management, CMDB or Configuration Management data roles.
- Strong data analysis skills with experience working with large, complex datasets from multiple sources.
- Experience using ITAM or asset management tools such as ITAM/HAM, Flexera, Snow, Ivanti or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of the hardware asset lifecycle, from procurement through to disposal.
- Experience reconciling data across ITAM, CMDB, discovery, procurement and financial systems.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with reporting/visualisation tools such as Power BI, SQL or equivalent.
- Experience producing asset reports, dashboards and data quality metrics.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong focus on data accuracy and integrity.
- Understanding of data governance, data standards, validation and audit requirements.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain data issues and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable
- IAITAM certification such as CHAMP, CSAM or CITAM.
- ITIL 4 Foundation or equivalent.
- Experience with HAM/ITAM and automated discovery tools such as Discovery, Tanium, SCCM, Qualys or Lansweeper.
- Knowledge of ISO 19770 IT Asset Management standards.
- Understanding of financial asset management, including depreciation, capitalisation, book value and TCO.
- Experience supporting audits and compliance activities.
- Knowledge of environmental disposal requirements such as WEEE.
- SQL, PowerShell or scripting experience.
- Experience working in secure, regulated or defence environments.
