Software Engineer Team Leader – Go (Golang)

About the Role
We’re looking for a Team Leader to build a new engineering team and an innovative product from the ground up. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in a startup-like environment, enjoys technical challenges, and is excited about shaping a product’s architecture, tech stack, and development strategy.
You don’t need prior experience with Go (Golang) — but you must be eager and committed to learning it. Experience with Go is a strong advantage, but not a barrier for the right candidate with strong experience and a learning mindset.
Key Responsibilities
Product & Architecture Development
- Lead the architecture, design, and development of a new product using Go.
- Advocate for best practices in performance optimization, system reliability, and security.
- Establish coding standards and development methodologies.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects and stakeholders on roadmap and features.
Team Building & Leadership
- Recruit, mentor, and grow a team of engineers.
- Lead the hiring process from role definition to interviews.
- Promote a collaborative and innovative culture.
- Manage agile processes, planning, and code reviews.
- Ensure a smooth onboarding process for new engineers.
Technical Execution & Delivery
- Deliver scalable and maintainable systems.
- Work with cloud infrastructure (Azure) to deploy robust services.
- Monitor performance, troubleshoot production issues, and optimize systems.
- Stay updated on tech trends and introduce tools and practices that improve efficiency.
Must-Have:
- 6+ years of development experience.
- 2+ years of leadership experience including mentoring and team building.
- Proven experience in launching products from scratch.
- Strong background in microservices and distributed systems.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis).
- Understanding of concurrency, networking, and performance optimization.
- Experience with CI/CD, DevOps practices, and observability tools.
- Willingness and ability to learn Go (Golang).
Advantage:
- Hands-on experience with Go in production environments.
- Experience modeling complex ERDs.
- Familiarity with message brokers like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Previous work in fast-paced startup environments.
Education and Experience
BSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field — or equivalent practical experience.
