We’re looking for Trainee Line Mechanics to join our Energy & Utilities team based in Matamata, with flexibility for applicants located between Paeroa and Tokoroa, or those willing to relocate.
Full training is provided to become a qualified Distribution Line Mechanic. You’ll work alongside experienced crews, learning industry‑recognised skills while earning, training and gaining real hands‑on experience.
Training typically takes around 2 years, supported by structured learning, practical coaching and ongoing development.
This is a physically active, outdoor role where every day is different — you’ll work across sites, operate plant and equipment, and build strong technical and safety capability in a growing industry.

You’re practical, motivated, and ready to commit to a long-term career pathway. You’ll bring:
- A Class 1 manual driver’s licence
- Class 2 Learners (or willingness to obtain it)
- Strong commitment to safety and working the right way
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn and reliability
- Physical fitness and comfort working outdoors in all conditions
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Interest in the electrical, power or infrastructure industries
