Senior Electrical Engineer - Secondary Systems

Location: Underdale, SA, Australia

The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer – HV Substation Secondary Systems to join our Energy & Utilities team. In this role, you will lead the delivery of high-quality engineering designs across complex substation projects. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, providing technical expertise and contributing to innovative, safe, and compliant engineering solutions.

As part of this role, you will:

• Deliver detailed secondary system designs in accordance with client, Australian, and international standards
• Produce design drawings, calculations, reports, and technical documentation
• Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentoring to engineers
• Support the delivery of safe, efficient, and cost-effective project outcomes

 

This is a full-time permanent role and can be based in Underdale (SA), Milton (QLD), or Melbourne (VIC) for the right candidate.

 

What We Are Looking For
You are a collaborative and technically strong engineer with a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Key requirements include:

• Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering
• Extensive experience in HV substation secondary systems design
• Strong knowledge of HV substation protection schemes relays, substation automation and control systems, AC and DC auxiliary systems
• Basic knowledge of power system design including primary plant such as, transformers, circuit breakers, CTs, VTs, CVTs reactors, capacitor banks and filter banks
• Experience developing Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), protection & control schematics and logic diagrams, panel layouts and cable schedules, and control building layouts
• Proven ability to deliver complete engineering design packages and manage documentation
• Proficiency with CAD tools such as MicroStation and AutoCAD and engineering software (e.g. PowerFactory, PSCAD)
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail

 

You will also bring a strong understanding of quality assurance processes and a proactive approach to safe work practices.
