Reliability Engineer

The Reliability Engineer is a critical role reporting to the Fleet Engineering Manager in the Through Life Support (TLS) Engineering function on a major rollingstock TLS contract in Sydney NSW, Australia. This role will be based at our Auburn Maintenance Centre.

Key responsibilities:

• Owning and developing the reliability growth model for the fleet and creating meaningful reports.
• Identifying key performance drivers for the fleet translating these into priority areas of focus to drive reliability improvements.
• Supporting the Sub-Systems Engineers in developing sound reliability driven changes to their systems.
• Supporting the Sub-Systems Engineers to routinely review the fleet’s maintenance regime to identify any potential for optimisation and development of best practice.
• Conducting analysis of data using proven methods such as Weibull to identify if a system or component is performing as per design or should have a positive or negative change to it TLS requirements.

Skills & knowledge:

• Minimum 5 years’ in managing the performance of heavy rail passenger fleets
• Experience managing cross-functional technical teams in design, build and / or maintenance in rail.
• Expert knowledge of reliability and data analysis
• Expert knowledge and understanding of rolling stock electrical and mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of engineering processes, including failure-reporting, investigations, and engineering change.
• Knowledge of asset management, maintenance optimisation and Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM).
• Knowledge of FMECA or equivalent design analysis.
• Knowledge of overhauls and mid-life upgrade of rollingstock.
