Project Engineer

Location: Brisbane, QLD, Australia

Downer is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our Water team and support the successful delivery of construction projects across South East Queensland.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will provide technical expertise across the project lifecycle, helping plan, execute, monitor and control projects to achieve strong safety, quality, commercial and client outcomes. 

You will work closely with project teams, supervisors, subcontractors, suppliers and clients, providing technical guidance and building collaborative relationships to deliver practical, value for money solutions. 

Key responsibilities will include:

• Providing technical advice to project delivery and wider program teams
• Supporting project planning, design reviews, constructability assessments and value engineering
• Monitoring project performance, schedules, budgets, costs and forecasts
• Managing procurement activities, subcontractor engagement, progress claims and variations
• Developing scopes of work and supporting subcontract agreements
• Managing project risks, delays, extensions of time and contract variations
• Supporting quality outcomes and ensuring projects meet client, community, environmental and legislative requirements
• Championing Zero Harm and ensuring appropriate safety standards, procedures and controls are implemented
• Building strong relationships and trust with clients, program stakeholders, suppliers and subcontractors  

 

What we’re looking for

To be successful in this opportunity, you will bring:

• An Engineering qualification - Civil, Mechanical or Electrical 
• More than three years of project engineering experience within the water or wastewater industry in South East Queensland
• Experience managing subcontractors and developing scopes of work
• Experience developing subcontract agreements
• Demonstrated financial management and reporting capability, including budgeting
• Demonstrated experience developing and managing project schedules
• A strong focus on achieving quality outcomes in project delivery
• Clear and concise communication skills
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• The ability to develop effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to perform effectively in a changing, high pressure project environment
• A genuine commitment to Zero Harm and safe project delivery
