Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future.  

Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security. 

We currently have an opportunity for an ICT Cloud Project Manager in Canberra to work on Defence ICT projects.   

What You’ll Do  
  

This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including: 
 

• Manage end‑to‑end project delivery in alignment with Defence governance frameworks, ensuring disciplined execution and oversight. 

• Develop, maintain, and monitor project plans, schedules, and risk registers, enabling effective tracking of progress and issues. 

• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to maintain alignment with strategic objectives and project outcomes. 

• Oversee cloud implementation activities, ensuring all solutions comply with Defence security and accreditation requirements. 

• Prepare high‑quality reports, briefs, and documentation for senior leadership to support informed decision‑making. 

 
What You’ll Bring 
 

• Proven ICT project management experience, with strong understanding of formal project management methodologies and delivery disciplines. 

• Hands‑on experience with cloud technologies, particularly Google Cloud Platform, and the ability to lead cloud‑related implementation activities. 

• Strong communication and stakeholder management capability, able to influence, coordinate, and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and vendors. 

• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and deliver outcomes under tight timelines, including in fast‑paced, complex delivery environments. 

• Experience delivering network infrastructure projects, with firewall technologies (e.g., Palo Alto) and strong vendor/systems integrator management considered highly desirable, alongside exposure to Defence, public sector, or private industry environments. 

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
