Location: Canberra, ACT, Australia

Join our Downer Professional Servicesteam and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future. 

Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security. 

We're seeking a talented Data Analyst to help transform complex data into meaningful insights that support operational, tactical, and strategic decision-making.

 

About the role 

In this role, you'll work with structured and unstructured data to uncover trends, identify opportunities, and provide evidence-based recommendations that influence key business outcomes. You'll apply analytical and data science techniques, develop compelling dashboards and reporting solutions, and work closely with stakeholders to deliver business intelligence products that drive better decision-making. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-profile Defence programs while developing your analytics expertise in a collaborative and purpose-driven environment.

What You'll Do

You will analyse data from end to end to identify insights, trends and opportunities that support business needs and reporting requirements. You'll ensure data quality, integrity and fit-for-purpose use across analytics activities while applying analytical, statistical and data science techniques to model, predict and evaluate product performance, outcomes and business impact.

 

  • Develop dashboards, reports, and visualisations that communicate complex information in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Translate data into meaningful narratives tailored to the needs of senior leaders and key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and provide data-driven recommendations.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of analytics processes, standards, and reporting practices.

 

What You'll Bring

You bring experience in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Reporting, Data Science, or a related field, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret complex datasets. You'll also have experience using data visualisation and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms to deliver meaningful insights and support informed decision-making.

  • Knowledge of statistical analysis, data modelling, and trend analysis techniques.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience delivering dashboards, reports, and data-driven recommendations to stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to data quality and continuous improvement.
