Overview
This operator works closely with design originators, preparing drawings or computer models of unusual, complex, or original designs that require a high degree of precision, and performs unusually difficult assignments requiring considerable initiative, resourcefulness, and drafting expertise. This incumbent assures that anticipated problems in manufacture, assembly, installation, and operation are resolved by the drawing produced, and exercises independent judgment in selecting and interpreting data based on knowledge of the design intent. Although working primarily as a drafter, this worker may occasionally interpret general designs prepared by others to complete minor details, may provide advice and guidance to lower-level drafters, or serve as a coordinator and planner for large and complex drafting projects.
Responsibilities
- Performs unusually difficult assignments requiring considerable initiative, resourcefulness, and drafting expertise.
- Assures that anticipated problems in manufacture, assembly, installation, and operation are resolved by the drawing produced.
- Exercises independent judgment in selecting and interpreting data based on a knowledge of the design intent.
- Although working primarily as a drafter, may occasionally interpret general designs prepared by others to complete minor details.
- May provide advice and guidance to lower-level drafters or serve as coordinator and planner for large and complex drafting projects.
Qualifications
- HSD or GED with 5-7 years relevant experience, or technical school or associate's degree in Drafting, Illustrating, or Graphic Arts with 3-5 Years experience
- 7 years of professional experience working closely with design originators, preparing drawings of unusual, complex, or original designs that require a high degree of precision.
- Active Secret clearance. Top Secret eligibility preferred.
Basic Compensation: $36.80 - 40.00 per hour
The salary range listed reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. The final offer may vary based on skills, experience, geographic location, market conditions, and internal equity. Additional compensation may include performance incentives and program-specific awards. We do not use salary history to determine compensation, in line with applicable law.
