Purpose of Job:

The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer / Supplier Quality Manager is a crucial role within the Quality Assurance team, responsible for leading supplier quality initiatives, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and driving continuous improvement in supplier performance. This position will focus on maintaining high-quality standards for supplied products in the automotive and aerospace industries.

Essential Job Functions and Performance Standards:

1)Serve as the primary liaison between operations, suppliers, and customers to ensure purchased products meet all specifications, quality, and regulatory requirements.
2)Develop and maintain supplier quality-related manuals, procedures, production processes, engineering specifications, and inspection plans.
3)Interpret and communicate customer requirements to suppliers, ensuring proper flow down through purchase orders.
4)Represent the company in supplier meetings and forums, fostering strong relationships and collaboration in partnership with the supply chain team.
5)Conduct supplier quality audits and source inspections to ensure adherence to standards and requirements.
6)Lead initiatives to identify root causes of supplier issues and establish effective corrective actions to improve supplier performance metrics such as On-Time Delivery (OTD) and quality (reducing scrap, rework, and repair costs).
7)Lead containment efforts for defects in procured parts, ensuring robust root cause corrective action (RCCA) implementation to prevent recurrence.
8)Analyze and resolve issues with supplier components, assemblies, and materials.
9)Collect, monitor, and analyze data on product/process trends to optimize manufacturing performance, minimize variability, and control production costs.
10)Utilize lean and six sigma tools to reduce variation and improve overall quality.
11)Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) for supplier-originating nonconformances.
12)Define and communicate performance expectations and metrics to suppliers.
13)Implement robust monitoring and reporting systems for supplier performance.
14)Evaluate supplier capabilities and performance through data analysis and site assessments.
15)Track supplier performance metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
16)Continuously improve the Supplier Quality Process by integrating feedback and best practices to ensure alignment with overall company quality objectives and industry standards.

Requirements:

•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field, and 8 years of prior relevant experience
•Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
•Strong knowledge of aerospace quality standards, such as AS9100 and NADCAP
•Proficiency in quality tools and methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean)
•Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis skills addressing quality issues, non-conformities, and defects efficiently
•Working knowledge of aerospace industry quality standards, regulations, and certification requirements
•Effective communication and negotiation skills for collaboration with suppliers, internal customers, and external customers
•Detail-oriented and results-driven, with a commitment to quality excellence
•Strong auditing skills for evaluating supplier quality management systems and conducting supplier audits effectively
•Strong project management skills in managing supplier improvement projects, tracking progress, and meeting deadlines
•Ability to analyze data, quality metrics, and performance indicators to make informed decisions and drive improvements
•Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and Outlook
•Teamwork and collaboration skills for effective work within cross-functional teams
•Adaptability to changes in regulations, technologies, and supplier landscapes
•Ethical conduct and integrity, especially when dealing with supplier relationships
