About the role:
The Service Preventative Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing scheduled preventative maintenance and remote system health checks for Divcon customers’ Delta Controls Building Automation Systems (BAS).
This role focuses on routine inspections, system verification, minor adjustments, and documentation to ensure customer systems remain reliable, optimized, and operating according to Divcon standards. The PM Technician supports proactive service delivery and helps identify issues before they escalate into corrective service calls.
This is an entry-to-intermediate, customer-facing role that serves as a foundational position for advancement into a full Service Technician role.
The position primarily supports customers in the San Antonio market, with occasional coordination for Austin as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled on-site preventative maintenance for Delta Controls BAS in accordance with Divcon PM standards.
- Execute remote preventative maintenance tasks including system reviews, alarms checks, trends verification, and basic diagnostics.
- Verify proper operation of controllers, sensors, actuators, and BAS network components.
- Perform basic system health checks including:
- Communication status
- Alarms and alarm limits
- Trends and data integrity
- Schedules and time synchronization
- Identify failing, degraded, or at-risk components and document findings clearly.
- Perform minor configuration adjustments and approved firmware updates as directed.
- Assist with basic system optimization to improve reliability and performance.
- Clearly communicate findings, observations, and recommendations to customers in non-technical terms.
- Accurately document PM activities, findings, and recommendations in Divcon’s service management system.
- Record system changes, parts used, and follow-up service recommendations.
- Coordinate site access and scheduling with customers for assigned PM visits.
- Escalate identified issues to Service Technicians or Service Project Managers as appropriate.
- Support smooth handoff between PM work and corrective service when required.
- Maintain a professional, customer-focused presence as Divcon’s on-site representative.
- Participate in training, mentoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- 1–3 years of exposure to building automation systems, HVAC controls, or related technical fields.
- Familiarity with Delta Controls (preferred) or similar BAS platforms (Niagara-based systems).
- Basic understanding of HVAC equipment and control devices.
- Ability to follow established procedures, checklists, and PM standards.
- Basic networking knowledge (IP addressing, BACnet, MS/TP).
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, control drawings, and point lists at a basic level.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience performing preventative maintenance or service support work.
- Exposure to remote BAS monitoring or service desk environments.
- Experience in data centers, healthcare, or mission-critical facilities.
- Trade school or technical certification in HVAC, controls, electronics, or related field.
- Interest in growing into a full Service Technician role.
