About the Role & Team:

Lucasfilm and Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) are seeking passionate, innovative, and talented individuals for our Summer 2025 Technical Internship Program. This posting serves as an expression of interest for multiple technical roles within our teams. As a Summer 2025 Technical Intern, you'll have the opportunity to work on transformative projects that shape the future of entertainment across various disciplines, including software development, research & development, technical support, art & design, and systems engineering.

Our interns can work on projects involving:

  • Software Development: Engage in the development of software tools, APIs, and systems to optimize production workflows, enhance infrastructure monitoring, and improve user interfaces.

  • Research & Development: Collaborate on state-of-the-art projects involving machine learning, computer vision, real-time rendering, and simulation technologies to address complex production challenges.

  • Technical Support: Provide assistance in maintaining and troubleshooting IT systems, including desktop support, network infrastructure, and data management, ensuring seamless operations across Lucasfilm and ILM.

  • Art & Design: Contribute to the creation, optimization, and integration of 3D models, textures, visual effects, and shaders for immersive and interactive experiences across various platforms.

  • Systems Engineering: Participate in the design, implementation, and maintenance of advanced video and audio systems within our cutting-edge production environments.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, and/or Java.

  • Strong understanding of software development practices, including version control systems (e.g., Git, Perforce).

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.

  • Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.

  • A passion for technology, storytelling, and innovation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with web frameworks (e.g., Django, Flask, React) and database technologies (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).

  • Familiarity with game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine) and real-time rendering technologies.

  • Knowledge of 3D graphics applications (e.g., Maya, 3Ds Max) and visual effects pipelines.

  • Understanding of virtualization and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Prior experience or strong interest in media production, film, or visual effects.

Education:

Currently working toward a Bachelor's or Master's with a major in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Digital Art, Game Design, or a related field.

Program Details:

  • Location: San Francisco, CA.

  • Program Length: May/June - August/September 2025 (12 weeks).

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week.

Eligibility Requirements:

At the time of application:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university , taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program AND returning to school the semester/quarter following the internship OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship. 

  • Must be at least 18 years old

  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization and provide full availability for the entire program duration.

  • Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or Disney College Program.
