We are looking for a technical Networking leader to lead our Global Internet, Datacenter and Network Automation teams. In this role you will work with multiple teams across engineering to support the Networking team and work closely with our product engineering and infrastructure teams. Reporting to the VP of Infrastructure you will drive the growth of the existing Networking team.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Own and manage a set of global cloud networking teams responsible for designing, scaling and operating DigitalOcean’s networking infrastructure 
  • Set and execute the Networking long term organizational and strategic direction
  • Budgetary ownership for all aspects of Networking
  • Collaborate with engineering leadership to define the architectures and practices that should be adopted in order to deliver on our engineering and operational goals
  • Provide escalation status notification throughout the enterprise on service impacting events
  • Ensuring technologies are used efficiently, profitably and securely
  • Evaluating and implementing new systems and infrastructure
  • Bringing a product mindset, driving innovation in a matrixed, cross functional environment
  • Being highly intelligent (a balance of EQ and IQ) and possessing the intellectual curiosity to probe and understand complex business and technology trends
  • Mentor, coach and develop networking managers
  • Recruit, hire and develop world-class Network engineers
  • Collaborate with engineering leadership to define the architectures and practices that should be adopted in order to deliver on our engineering and operational goals
  • Provide technical leadership - best practices, testing, performance, reliability
  • Drive a high-performance culture within your team that iterates frequently and learns continuously without sacrificing product quality
  • Setting performance goals for team members; evaluating performance; providing coaching and facilitating professional development
  • Budgetary ownership for all aspects of Networking

What We’ll Expect From You:

  • Distinguished track record managing an Internet networking team (with experience implementing reliability, process, and scaling solutions).
  • Demonstrated ability to drive a technical vision within your organization, and across the business.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead positive change; empower people; cultivate product technology visions and innovative solutions.
  • The ability to adapt and handle multiple competing priorities.
  • Clear communication skills (both written and verbal) to document processes and architectures.
  • Proven ability to communicate strategically with different audiences (engineering, peers, directors, execs.)
  • Strong ownership and accountability mindset.

  • We reward our employees. The base salary range for this position is between $225,000-$275,000 based on relevant years of experience and skills. The salary range for this role is specific to candidates located within the U.S. and will vary for candidates outside the U.S.. Employees may qualify for a bonus in addition to base salary; bonus amounts are determined based on company and individual performance. We also provide equity compensation to eligible employees including grants of equity upon hire and the option to participate in our Employee Stock Purchase Program.
