Job Description
The Company
Dexcom Corporation (NASDAQ DXCM) is a pioneer and global leader in continuous glucose monitoring (CGM). Dexcom began as a small company with a big dream: To forever change how diabetes is managed. To unlock information and insights that drive better health outcomes. Here we are 25 years later, having pioneered an industry. And we're just getting started. We are broadening our vision beyond diabetes to empower people to take control of health. That means personalized, actionable insights aimed at solving important health challenges. To continue what we've started: Improving human health.
We are driven by thousands of ambitious, passionate people worldwide who are willing to fight like warriors to earn the trust of our customers by listening, serving with integrity, thinking big, and being dependable. We've already changed millions of lives and we're ready to change millions more. Our future ambition is to become a leading consumer health technology company while continuing to develop solutions for serious health conditions. We'll get there by constantly reinventing unique biosensing-technology experiences. Though we've come a long way from our small company days, our dreams are bigger than ever. The opportunity to improve health on a global scale stands before us.
Meet the team:
Dexcom is an industry leader in the health management space, delivering high quality products that empower people to take control of their health through innovative biosensing technology. In the R&D Mechanical Engineering team, we are responsible for the end-to-end design feasibility and development of high-volume products at Dexcom. We are seeking a driven and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team and contribute to the success of our product development.
This position is in the Mechanical Engineering Product Development team, with high visibility and impact. The role will enable meeting Dexcom’s product performance and reliability goals through delivering creative testing designs and solutions to product characterization.
Where you come in:
You will be responsible for the design, development, and execution of novel test methods, including any related fixturing and equipment, to support characterization of device performance attributes, with a focus on the wearable.
You will define and execute broad characterization strategies and test plans to measure material, component, subsystem and system level performance across the entire product design lifecycle.
You will perform extensive data analysis using engineering statistics best practices to drive data-based decisions.
In collaboration with advanced research, materials engineering, design verification, and operations teams, you will create and mature measurement systems and methodologies to characterize, verify, and validate Dexcom products.
You will work with cross-functional partners, such as process development, design verification team, packaging, sterilization and operations, to mitigate challenging technical problems via testing solutions.
You will drive workstreams independently, compile and analyze data for readouts and effectively communicate results and findings to functional leadership and program stakeholders.
You will utilize statistical modeling and data analytics to drive decisions: developing statistical models for DOE’s and interpreting results effectively utilizing statistical software such as Minitab and/or JMP
Provide recommendations to management on deliverables and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision and in accordance with schedule requirements.
What makes you successful:
You have extensive test development (fixture design, programming, test procedure and protocol development, etc.) and characterization experience, preferably in the medical device industry.
You bring depth of knowledge in mechanical-based, multi-disciplinary products and technologies with background in related testing and metrology tools (e.g. mechanical devices, mechatronics, injection molded plastics, adhesives and coatings).
You are skilled at data analysis methods and software (ex. JMP), with the ability to construct creatively designed experiments to solve complex problems and run MSA (measurement system analysis) to evaluate test method repeatability and reproducibility.
You have demonstrated product development experience with proven ability to translate high level product requirements into technical requirements with applicable test methods.
You have hands on experience and familiarity with various lab and measurement equipment and are adept at leveraging these tools at will to characterize parts and products.
You thrive in environments where there is ambiguity or uncertainty in product requirements and have a willingness to try and test new ideas, coupled with a track record of success in a fast-paced R&D environment.
You bring a spirit of innovation to challenge the status quo and pursue innovations in technology, product features, and business processes.
You exercise judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action.
You have excellent communication (written and verbal), collaboration, and personal interaction skills with the ability to operate independently with minimal supervision.
What you’ll get:
A front row seat to life changing CGM technology. Learn about our brave #dexcomwarriors community.
A full and comprehensive benefits program.
Growth opportunities on a global scale.
Access to career development through in-house learning programs and/or qualified tuition reimbursement.
An exciting and innovative, industry-leading organization committed to our employees, customers, and the communities we serve.
