About the Position

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Test Automation Engineer to join a team building Germany’s next-generation Identity Provider platform for the national healthcare Telematics Infrastructure (TI), enabling millions of statutory health insurance members to securely access digital healthcare services. This is a security-critical, gematik-regulated platform delivering production-grade OAuth 2.0/OIDC identity services, hardware-backed cryptography, PII protection, and audit-grade quality. In this environment, test evidence is an integral part of every release. As a Senior Test Automation Engineer, you will drive a quality-first approach by implementing automated API, integration, and compliance test suites in Java, ensuring that the platform consistently meets the strict requirements of healthcare and identity management regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites as code using Java.
• Create BDD-based automated test scenarios using Cucumber against REST APIs.
• Automate API testing for OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect (OIDC) authentication and authorization flows using RestAssured or similar tools.
• Develop integration tests using JUnit 5, Testcontainers, and WireMock.
• Validate compliance with gematik specifications through traceable, evidence-based test reporting.
• Manage test execution and reporting using Jira Xray and related test management tools.
• Extend automation capabilities into UI, mobile, and performance testing when appropriate.
• Continuously improve automated testing stages within CI/CD pipelines.
• Explore and implement AI-assisted test generation and automation techniques.
• Collaborate closely with development, architecture, security, and DevOps teams in a strong code-review and documentation culture

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in Test Automation, Quality Engineering, or SDET roles.
• Strong Java programming skills and a test-as-code mindset.
• Hands-on experience with:
  • API test automation
  • REST Assured, Postman, or similar tools
  • Cucumber BDD
  • JUnit 5
  • TDD principles
• Strong understanding of OAuth 2.0 and OIDC-based authentication testing.
• Experience designing scalable and maintainable test automation frameworks.
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based development practices.
• Strong quality-driven mindset with focus on traceability, compliance validation, and test evidence management.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with:

• Cotract testing experience using Pact or similar frameworks.
• Test management expertise with Jira Xray.
• Experience with AI-assisted test generation and automation tools.
• Python development or automation experience.
• Experience in healthcare, digital identity, cybersecurity, or regulated industries.
• ISTQB or equivalent testing certifications are beneficial.
• German language skills are considered an advantage.
