Department and Project
This position is within the Tolling Services team of Deutsche Telekom IT Solutions Hungary. The team consists of IT professionals specializing in electronic road-charging solutions. Together with our partners, we develop and operate intelligent, kilometer-based tolling systems for international customers, covering the entire business process (vehicle registrations, country booking, providing On-Board Units, position data transmission, charge calculation, and fleet billing). Leveraging digital intelligence and advanced technology, our tolling solutions facilitate seamless mobility across Europe. The team aims to enhance existing services and expand into new domains. As part of an international team collaborating with T-Systems International, you will play a key role in supporting our customers with cutting-edge tolling solutions.
About the role:
You'll join our specialized squad focused on map modeling and exporting services, working within our established infrastructure ecosystem. We're committed to open-source technologies, with a strong emphasis on Apache Foundation projects including Kafka, Doris, Flink, and Superset. As a DevOps Engineer, you'll help us leverage these open-source tools while collaborating with our broader DevOps community to maintain and improve our deployment pipelines across multiple cloud environments.
Main tasks
As DevOps Engineer you will:
• Supporting and optimizing our open-source data processing ecosystem
• Implementing deployment strategies for services around Apache Kafka, Flink, Doris, and Superset
• Maintaining CI/CD pipelines for reliable, automated deployments
• Supporting containerized applications across Kubernetes and OpenShift platforms
• Implementing GitOps workflows with ArgoCD for declarative deployments
• Contributing to the open-source community through knowledge sharing
• Enhancing monitoring dashboards and alerting for proactive issue detection
• Automating operational tasks through scripting and infrastructure as code
• Collaborating on security scanning integration and compliance automation
Qualifications
Background and required skills:
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in the following areas: Computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, natural science, mathematics, business or equivalent work experience in IT
• 5+ years of hands-on DevOps experience with the following skills:
- Experience with Apache Foundation projects (Kafka, Flink, or similar)
- Container orchestration with Kubernetes and/or OpenShift
- CI/CD pipeline design and maintenance (GitLab CI/CD, ArgoCD)
- Infrastructure-as-Code practices (Terraform, Ansible)
- Linux system administration and shell scripting
- Monitoring and logging solutions implementation
- Version control with Git and branching strategies
- Automation and scripting (Python, Bash)
- Experience with cloud services and multi-cloud environments
- Understanding of security best practices in CI/CD pipelines
- Knowledge of database operations and data persistence in containers
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills in English
- Experience working in SAFe environment
Advantage:
• Hands-on experience with Apache Flink, Kafka, Doris, or Superset
• Contributions to open-source projects or communities
• Experience with OpenShift Container Platform operations
• Familiarity with geospatial data processing workflows
• Experience with blue/green or canary deployment strategies
